So, my archer is level 35 so i bought a hunter's bow, but it won't let me equip it. do i really need to change jobs before i am able to equip it?

You can always check for the class/lvl requirement of a gear clicking with the right button of your mouse on it.

 

As the name suggests, a Hunter's Bow can only be used by Hunters and evolutions.

frustrating since i doubt there are any level 33 hunters around, so why have a level requirement on the bow at all and instead just make the requirement "hunter".

Hunter Bow is a really old bow. The level requirement being so low is likely an artifact of the RO early days back in alpha/beta.

The name is Hunter Bow, not Archer Bow
