Most certainly a scam, or at the very least It's opportunist deception..

They are intentionally selling these boxes of 10 at 100 box prices in the hope someone will buy one by accident.

They aren't legitimately valuing these boxes at 90k because that's how much they want to sell them for.

Unfortunately they aren't breaking any rules.

I've seen it happening with 0 slot Chain Mails as well.

It's not a scam if you do not check before you buy then it is really down to the user who bought the item in the first place, you was provided eyes in order to see, so why not use them once in a while.

It's literally a scam by dictionary definition.

Just because it can be avoided by paying attention, it doesn't exempt it from being 'a dishonest scheme'.

The screenshot the fellow posted above is a prime example of multiple of the wordings in the definition.

Just do this...

If you guys stopped buying them they'd stop doing it lol.  Judging by the fact that it seems now 75% of merchants selling silvervines are trying to scam, you guys must be falling for it an awful lot.  It's absolutely a scam as Paragon pointed out.  You can scam someone without lying to them..  being intentionally misleading by selling a similar looking item at the price of the original is definitely trying to swindle someone out of their money by preying on their lack of observation.  You can debate whether they deserve to have lost their money for falling for it or not, but I don't see how you can say they aren't trying to deceive them.

If anyone falls for this, it's your own fault for not looking at what you are buying.

Happened to me as well. Was tired and not paying attention. Ended up buying 5x 10 boxes for 90k each. My own stupidity I suppose.

People who don't look before they buy deserve to be scammed.
It's not like it's an elaborate trick. You just right click what you want and read the proper full name. Bam 3 seconds extra wasted and you guaranteed never waste a dime.

It's basically merchanting natural selection. The smart feed on the oblivious. One reason RO's vendor shops are great.

That's like saying people who don't move to a better neighborhood deserve to be shot and killed irl.  Nobody deserves to be the victim of any kind of crime and it's disgusting that you think that way.  Yes people could avoid being scammed in this manner, but really they shouldn't have to by hyper alert to scams while doing a leisure activity.

Happened to me, then I started selling and made 4kk x)

You can consider it a scam, but let's be honest, most people buy ASAP those items because they want to take advantage on the seller, for re-sell them or use them for lower prices.
