How could be a hybrid build for crusaders that is both offensive and tanky, with slightly more focus on being tanky? I definitely don't want int in this build, so GC is not an option. (although it may still be useful in some scenarios I guess?) any suggestions?

Well not wanting to use Grand Cross, you've eliminated the Crusader's highest damage dealing skill.

 

You would be left with Bash, Magnum Break, Shield Charge and Shield Boomerang for damage (assuming you also want to avoid Holy Cross).

 

Your build skill wise will need to be;

 

Swordsman:

Sword Mastery - 10

Increased Recuperative Power - 10

Bash - 10

Magnum Break - 10

Provoke - 5

Endure -4

 

Crusader:

Riding - 1

Cavalry Mastery - 3

Faith - 10

Auto Guard - 10

Shield Charge - 5

Shield Boomerang - 5

Reflect Shield - 10

Defender - 5

 

I'd say your stats should look roughly like for the skill build above;

Str 95

Agi 1

Vit 95

Int 1

Dex 34

Luk 1

this is part of the reason RE:Start is in such a bad place. With the mix of mechanics, certain things are far too confusing.

 

With you not wanting Int in your build, using both Holy or Grand Cross is a bad idea.

 

Holy Cross simply because you will have barely any Int to cast it with, also I'm looking at the skill and it says nothing about spears. (Seperately, there are very few One-Handed Spears, which is what you would need to use in order to wield a Shield of any kind)

 

And Grand Cross because is requires Str and Int to be truly effective.

Holy Cross deals double damage with 2hand spear! With 900% modifier and aspd based delay, I think it's the highest single target dps in game right now.
