Hello,

I haven't been into Ragnarok for quite a while and just came back to play a bit.

I noticed there are mostly SVD Knights / LK / RK around. Is this the new go to or are Agi Knights still usable?

It is a for-fun build. They will never be optimal for efficient farming and will be weak in MVP and PVP. Putting a Muramasa on and endowing yourself is a blast as you single target stuff down but if you want to do things faster then go SVD/hybrid and BB mobs down.

Something to take note of for 3rd class, since you asked about RK's.

RK Auto-attack MVPers are some of the best, most efficient, fastest killers, but it's very costly in gear compared to other builds like Dragons Breath or an Ignition Break + BB spamming build to be effective everywhere.

However pure Frenzy RK builds will somewhat shoe-horn you into a corner for an optimized build.  You'll only be MvPing, and be far less capable in PvM and especially hunting/mobbing compared with all other builds, including Hybrids.  Hybrid Ignition Break + BB builds with auto-attack isn't that great for most higher tier MVPs, but about 80% of them...yeah, you'll do just fine.  Then again most 3rd class can MvP with the right gears, almost regardless of build, so it's really about speed of kills, damage per hit or damage per second, efficiency, how many extra accounts you require (or friends) to buff, food items, special scrolls, etc. to be effective.

I should also note that if you ever plan to solo major instance dungeons, DB RK's are the most efficient, cheapest, easiest, and most effective.  Especially in ET.  You can solo as an auto-attacking RK, but you'll be relying a lot on BB+IB with subpar stats (only about a 20% difference in output), but with the right weapons you'll manage just fine.  I know it's quite possible because there are Frenzy RK's that take on Endless Tower solo.

Basically if you want an agi crit build, you're better off going with crusader once it comes out as they'll be capable of getting 190 aspd and 100+ crit.

Its a fun Farming class. Just team up with a priest and have fun in Chivalry 2. Crit Raydrics with Aspersio. Can easily take down Abyss Knights and Bloody Knight too. Bowling Bash is fun on lower DEF mobs too. AGI Knights however lose their shine in PVP/War. This is where SVD knights outclass them.

Problem with AGI knights becoming RKs is that you're thinking way too far ahead. When thinking that far ahead, I can tell you that RK can achieve max ASPD with very minimum AGI such as 30 or less with the correct buffs, pots, and runes accompanied by frenzy. Seeing how frenzy is the only viable way to do aspd RK, it drops your flee immensely making AGI almost pointless at that point. Those points could have went into VIT instead with the frenzy hp multiplier.

Agi knights were never truly viable though based on memory dating back to 2003. Vit knights just used a VS pike to stun bash and end them like every single time. Funny thing is, this was when they were the most viable compared to any RO years.

So basically just don't ever go pure agi knight, it'll be fun at first but it'll be short lived when you need to mob train to level effectively. Though that's just my personal opinion, I'm sure some people don't mind /noctrl and auto attacking all the way til 99.

Good post, I forgot about the Frenzy factor.

As for the part I'm quoting, yes, but even as an LK Pierce was still a decent skill, so was Brandish, and Stab was still one of the best counter measures in PVP, or if a mob gets too close and you need to move them for mob control while you pot a little first, before brandishing, bbing or going into a Clashing Spiral spam for 1h kills.

Anyway, since Trans though, old knight spear skills are all but forgotten, and Gravity decided to replace the SVD Spear knights with Royal Guards.  Despite other classes having 2nd and Trans skills boosted with equipment and/or cards, Knights have by far the fewest boosters by skills and weapon options (with one major exception for Clashing Spiral), especially for the older, and arguably FAR more fun skills.  DB spamming all day, or IB and BB alternating is a little boring comparatively.

Even with Crimson equipment it's not like there's anything that helps boost knight spear skills that I'm aware of to where anything but a pure DB build is actually competitive compared to other class skills like Arrow Storm (which has like 50 different card and equipment combinations to boost into the 500~800k per), Acid Demo (Temporal Boots for damage cap...seriously, damage cap from a bloody trans skill, and one that can be spammed like it was nothing?), or Cart Cannon, which was already high powered, then boosted with the addition of cannon balls, then further boosted with one particular headgear to a point where not even Hundred Spears with a full +100% boost from Gloomy (and no dragon loss) and perfect gears can even touch a mid-tiered geared Geneticist with a certain overupgraded headgear.

I still prefer RK's anyway, I think because they get so much crap "omg, Clashing Spiral is too broken," nevermind that optimal CS gears prior to the Giant Lance with full buffs deals slightly less damage than similarly geared Maestro/Wanderer using Arrow Vulcan (and AV has several options for directly boosting skill damage, not just "range").  Though on a side-note, for my RG, it was sad to see Rapid Smiting was recently nerfed.  I used to get 15~18k per Rapid Smiting with my Cross Shield +7 about a year and a half ago, now about 8~11k.  Not sure why they nerfed it so hard, but they did.

Agi Knight is a prototype hybrid build the AK can't fully max damage the ASPD without affecting CRiT rate ! Using a Vicious Mind Sabre may increase damage within a CAP that maxed out the Agi Attack damage/ASPD.
