Halloween Loading Screen Contest

 

September 11 to October 5

 

Are you prepared to have a spooktacular Halloween? The scariest day of the year is almost here! Help Ragnarok 2 feel the Halloween spirit by designing a special, spooky loading screen. Winners will have their screens displayed in game during the Halloween season!

 
Entries
 
Entries will be accepted from September 11 to October 5, 2017
 
Entry Instructions
 
Format: 1920 x 1080 .JPG
 
Edited screenshot, traditional media or digital software drawings. Content from RO2 screenshots or concept art may be used. Unedited or minimally edited screenshots will not receive participation prizes.
 
Winners
 
Winners will be chosen based on the quality, thoughtfulness, and spooktacularness. Multiple winners will be chosen, and final count will be determined by number of entries received.
 
Winners will receive:
1x 3-slot costume pieces of their choice, including Swag or Kafra [3] pieces and purple runehole chest costumes. 

In addition to participation prize.
 
Participation
 
Each participant will receive 2x Batty Bundle Prize Box and 1x 3~5 Star DNA Random Box by Cheny.
 
Rules
 
OK: Drawings you have created with traditional media or digital software are acceptable. Including content from R02 screenshots in game that you have edited is allowed. 3D renders you have created are also okay if the work is entirely your own creation. Any media that can be presented in a format that fits the required dimensions is acceptable as long as it is your own work.
 
NOT OK: Any artwork taken from another artist or from media you do not have rights to is not allowed. If you did not draw it, render it, or screen cap it from the game, don’t include it. This extends to backgrounds, wallpapers, 3D renders, and screenshots from other media. Do not include content you have found on google, deviant art, or other sources you do not have rights to, even if you credit the source. The entry must be 100% your own work, new, and original,  with the exception of in game screenshots you've taken.
 
Entries violating the rules will be disqualified. Entries using artwork that is not their own will be tortured by Idun.

Halloween Story:

Little Monsters, stalking you through the night,

Halloween is indeed the Devil's Night.
Fear is what this dark evening brings,
Along with many "other" things.

Are you sure you are prepared?
The 31st is not for those who are easily scared.
Creatures from creepy dungeons roam on this night,
Midgard is under the Night of Fright.

Trick or treat you might wanna say,
But you should not have waited until the end of the day.
Tonight you will lose your candy treats,
For the monsters need to eat!

Since this is the time for brownies and bats,
Horong spirits, sohee ghosts and big rats,
Weird-happenings and witche's brew,
These are the things I wish for you.

 

Don't be scared, it's just one night,

so "Happy Halloween" and don't forget, you're about to fight!

Blurbs: Several references were considered to make this original artwork as close to the theme and game as possible, while different mediums were combined to have this result (digital painting, traditional media, real life photos and vector based work). I must say I really enjoyed creating it, as I learned many new (to me) art techniques and effects. It took me quite some time to say " it's done", since I kept coming back to draw something new or add details that are not even visible to the 100% view of it. Yet again, it's not even close to what others have created (it's full of flaws) and for that I can sincerely say, "you are all an inspiration to me!" Oh... and I have no idea if my doll (mummy) is dressed like a bat, or a bat that is following my character is trying to dress like a mummy. It's a rather controversial matter -haha

 

A very special "Thank you" to Sylfis for all his help and support to paint this image in my own comfort style, his constructive critisism through out the process, the constant ear he would lend me at 2:00am and listening my whining over this and of' course his creative hands considering the shadows and lights of this piece. So... yeah, thank you so much. I highly appreciate your hours and hours spend on me!
