Hey everyone. First off i will say i am a brand new player to Ragnarok Online and have almost no idea how much of the game is played but i am ready to learn and have fun doing it. I figured that a merchant is such a nessecity for any future characters i make that i would start this one first. i am currently on the ymir(did i spell it right?) server and just got out of the novice training area. i would like some help on stats needed and skill progression while i lvl up. i plan on making an alchemist than go Bio-chemist/Geneticist( still don;t know how the class progression goes, it looks kinda wonky) i curently have my merchant at base 11/job 0 with stats at 11 str/vit/agi and 12 dex. i wanted those 4 stats to be at least 11 now i would like to know which are the most important to lvl up to become an alchemist. i still want to maxe OC and DC though to help with money and will be getting a cart for vending. well thank you for reading this ^^ i hope to hear some great ideas!

it depends on how u want to level, if u want to go with humoncu i suggest u add more int, generally speaking merchant is not a great first character due to the fact it doesnt have any good offense skills to aid u in combat(other than the money throwing technique),

The class system works Novice (JobLevel 10) -> 1st Job (Joblevel 40 or 50) -> 2nd Job (Level 99/Joblevel 70) -> (Rebirth) - (Trans Class) - 3rd Job. Rebirth and Trans are optional, so you don't need to do it if you want to become a Geneticist faster. Going the Rebirth Route is recommended, though, due to increased HP/SP.

A merchant shouldn't really be your main character if you are a new player. I'd suggest you learn how to play the game with this character and turn him into a vendslave - keep him having the highest amount of money from all your characters and, when needed, you can get your merchant to buy anything your other characters might need.

However, if you really want to have this as your main character, I'd suggest - for fast leveling - to get Mammonite Level 10 and use it on every monster. Downside is you will need A LOT of money to continuously use it, but it has 600% ATK which is a lot.
As antikv said, for Homun (and possible AFK leveling of it) put more INT in. Most of the Alchemists are Brewers, making their own potions and other things. So if you are more into fighting and aren't that into getting a Homun, go for Blacksmith.

Your VIT doesn't really have to be that high in the beginning. If you battle a lot, add DEX and STR. Maybe even AGI, if you do not have the funds to use Mammonite all the time. But VIT isn't needed until you have changed to your second job.

Priests (and also Acolytes) are pretty hard to level, especially in the beginning. Being a Full Support Priest/Acolyte you have a higher chance to get into a party, which can help with leveling. But gaining the levels to finish your Joblevels and gaining helpful skills can be tricky. Battle Priests/Acolytes have the advantage of being able to defend themselves well, but they might run out of SP faster than needed.

A good class to start with would be Thief (focus on AGI) or Archer (focus on DEX), even Mages (focusing on DEX and INT) are pretty easy. No matter what people might tell you, it's a bit tough doing a good Swordsman, especially as your first char - they require a lot of equipment and are more all-round classes which means a lot of stats have to be increased which will end up getting you imbalanced, if you focus on one skill then another.

Oh~ Archers ftw:D

BUT as a piece of advice~ if you want to go third class i'd say Bard class would be better~ SOOOOO much :sob: is going on with rangers its not even funny~ Then again it depends what your looking for in the class. Hunter's have more raw power and aspd compared to Bards in the beginning and bards have more party value and better sp but once you trans its debatable. Everything depends on your style of play and stats.

Either way lvling with a bow is costly in the beginning because of arrows once you get arrow crafting you shouldn't have that much troubleC:

theif is the best choice, dealing higher damage with basic melee attacks thx to their passive skill "double attack" and higher evasive ability thx to "improve dodge", it can go into 2 different path, roge to stalker to shadow chaster, or assasin, assasion cross then to gullitine cross, it is capable of using dual weapon(a different weapon in each hand), or katars/jurs
