Today was testing builds on my Dragoon to make a full Block Rate!

My surprise is when equiping :

4 Parts BLD : 45% Block Rate

&

4 Parts POS: 61.1% Block Rate

            Total:106.1% Block rate

There is no changes at the special section:                                                                                 Block Rate - 9.3%

                                                                                                                                                     Block Dmg. - 36%

Equiping the 4+4 106.1% = 0 rise up on Block. :hmm:

Using [Parry Lv.5] 17% Block Block Rate                                                                                   Block Rate. - 15.3%

                                                                                                                                                     Block Dmg. -  42%

Same goes with [Socket Cards] Doesnt Work!

Please fix it  :no1:

no, no news about it.

Sorry, never gonna happen again.

Only thing I saw regarding Block Rate is about the rework  with blocked damage and the cap on Max Block(not sure if it is blocked damage or rate).

Nothing about fix on this bug tho.

The block rate has been "reworked" by the original devs from Korea years ago. Their rework was the following:

They removed all base block rates from all classes. They set the block cap to 0 for all classes except for Knight and Infiltrator (Ninja).

All the procentual block rate increases (item or socket cards) are calculated from the base rate but not any class has a base rate. This is why they just don't work.

Problem here is: Block rate itself how it currently works is not wanted by a majority of the community. This is why it is not a good idea to just give classes a base block rate to "fix" the problem. But this would be the only quick solution to get it back to work (for every class).

You might see an issue that is way more complex than just "fixing" a "bug". For us it looks like a "bug" but since we have no idea what the former devs did it could also have been done intentionally because they wanted to rework the complete system or whatever.

Personally I would give every class a minimal base block rate (until a complete rework of this system) to make the items/socket cards with block rate at least a bit useful. But this might be a very unpopular decision. We could also change the impact/effect the block rate has a bit. Unfortunately a complete rework of the system is currently too time consuming until the Arcadia Episode 3 update goes live.

Feel free to discuss "block rate" and possible solutions to the problem without the need of a complete rework of the system.

If this topic becomes more a suggestion/idea topic than a bug report I move it to the proposals section.

If you decide to discuss please keep it civil and refrain from attacking each other. Thank you!

Let's start with this idea:
Block can be changed that it does not block any of the debuff effects this can be achieved that a target which blocks gets 1 damage instead of 0. 0 Damage is always consideres as miss which causes that debuffs and knock back/damage effects are not activated. 1 damage means a hit. So all "on hit effects" (debuffs, knock back etc.) would be working. It would only block the damage of the effect including elements.

Personally i don't like the idea of re-implementing block rate, because it was just annoying and overpowered in the past. With changing "block damage" to 1 to make debuffs effect would make things fairer but I would say we need a "blockrate cap" then. Maybe 5~8% Maximum? (Otherwise it could be o overpowered for some classes)

But another thing, maybe a little bit off topic:

Twins have 3 skill which can block everything. I'm not sure but i think 2 of them can be used in PVP/BSQ/EW. And this Skills can block everything, except stuns, freeze, knock backs or other "on hit effects". I think after hearing that you can change the damage to 1 I would say this should be changed for twins to make them a fairer opponent in 1v1 PVP.

I'm excited to hear you opinions. :Emo_16:

Dragoon is not good in crowded pvp but is actually OP in 1v1 room matches due to tankiness, easy-to-catch-enemy skills with long/wide range and low animation, skill with super-armored status can be used often. So bring back blockrate will just make them become even more OP in 1v1 pvp. I vote no for blockrate

Twin is OP atm in both bsq and 1v1 room also because of their block skills and their meat-shield-sister/brother...

I don't think implementing this should be a priority. And if every class gets a base amount I don't think it will help to balance the classes, which is the main priority in my opinion. Though if you can make that 1 damage thing it would be cool because then Twins won't be such a pain to fight.

Think twins are fine how they are currently, they have so many block % passives, gear stats give block % passive, yet they have 0 ability to block outside of weave and the yellow shield. Not sure if you guys even bothered to play twin, but some skills bypass the blocks like stumblebum etc on yellow shield, so it is not wise to put those 2 skills together as one. Not to mention the weave fundamentally works different to what was informed to the topic which were aimed towards passive block.

Just like if a paladin decides to use one of the most common bracelet most classes use at level 81, they can not use any of the block passive or actives making the skill points used on them wasted. Funny how players wanted to direct towards twins to nerf rather than the cards and passives used to allow blocking rather than remove blocking/changing it.

If you change block to work that way I'm fine with making it at least work by giving a bit of that base block to each class. Then later when you have time it might be worth another look.

This might go to the rework side of things but if block and dodge only blocked damage and not any effects, I'd be ready to bring old dodge and block back IF aim would be made to work against block also. And since everything else is capped I guess there'd need to be a cap for this too, I'd say around 30% cap for both could work. We need wider gearing options in the game, after elements and the caps it has became quite streamlined. Pretty much all of what made block and dodge op was the ability to bypass catches as well as damage.

Should dodge and block become prominent stats again it would effect a lot of people's builds. That's not really a problem but it would be ideal from the players perspective if such a change came at a point where they'd be changing gear anyway, perhaps like a release of an expansion :P But well, things can't always be perfect.

I think bringing block rate back and this 1 damage change should go hand in hand, and as a result I cant see it being too op. If the base rate given is low I don't think there necessarily needs to be a cap at first because that'd basically limit it already. But in the future I think it's probable that any bigger change to both block and dodge would require a cap.

Considering the activity of 1v1 pvp I don't think the game should be balanced around it tbh :/

Well Popcorn did talk about small changes and gave examples of such himself, so yes you are right it's not a priority. If this was a priority then I'm sure they'd be looking for a larger rework.

we are fine with the mechanics of the new block damage.
what we are saying is the problem is block rate % items arent increasing the block rate. "BLOCK RATE %" doesnt do anything. is this intended or did i miss a patch/rework regarding this? because i only see the change that block damage now is reduced damage.
