I'm not sure why this issue exists, but I am having issues with frame rate on the RO steam client. When I play the game for an extended period of time (more than 5-10 minutes) the frame rate slowly starts to drop to about 10-15fps. I checked if there was a memory leak and there doesn't seem to be. This happens cpu usage and memory usage are below 30%.

I do not have this problem at all when playing the game through a nonsteam account by launching the program from the Steam application folder. This makes the game on my Steam account virtually unplayable for any extended period of time. Anyone have an idea what's causing this?

Please try the following:

  • Close every active RO client.
  • Browse to your Ragnarok Restart installation folder, from Steam game library, right click Ragnarok Re:Start choose properties, choose Local Files tab, choose Browse Local Files.
  • Find and Right-Click file dinput.dll:
    Option 1:
Choose Delete file if you are only playing Restart or Renewal servers.
Option 2: Choose Rename file to something else, e.g. dinput_backup.dll. Might need to undo this action when launching Classic client.
  • Launch the game and see how it goes.

Hmm, it seems you got the same problem. I thought I was able to solve it thru affinity and priority method in task manager. But still my fps in RO client Steam is slow. I have done the below for your info:

1. Reinstalled windows and drivers (yes! just to see the problem)
2. Did compatibily check etc
3. Disabled overlay in steam
4. Deleted dinput.dll
5. Rub steam as admin
6. Selected dedicated vid card in setup
Result: still low fps

Also For info: I did created account for warp portal for my merchant just to check. And installed the warp portal client, and wallah! Very smooth fps and was happy to see smoothnes even in high resolution or full screen.

Findings: so I can say that the client from steam is the problem??

I wish I can transfer my steam account to warp portal. Before I was able to login using warp portal account. But now it wont let me, thats why I have been using steam for the past 2 weeks.

Thank you for sharing your findings.

Have you tried to play with the Steam overlay feature?

i had the same issue, the problem was easy to solve, just copy the Ragnarok folder in another place, obviously you wont be able to use any steam feature ir buy points or vip, but in case you need to, just log in from.the client in steam

You sure? Because i already did used the warp portal client (gravity folder) but using the WPlauncher to
Login to steam, but same. Without executing WPlauncher it wont connect your account.

You will noticed fps drops after several mins. I prefer playing it w/o steam login.

Any solution to this? I tried what was suggested and it doesn't fix the issue. Is there any way to migrate over a Steam login into a regular Warp account? Launching via steam is unplayable unless you are vending.

If you remember your log in credentials you can download the standalone client and log in normally. HOWEVER! your account is forever bound to Steam for VIP and Cash Shop purchases.

From what I recall, I never was asked to make a login to play using the steam client. It made one for me using my Steam ID.

Would you mind taking a screenshot of your setup.exe settings? It is located inside your RO folder.

I've tried a few different graphic settings, but I don't see how that would change anything. I can play the game just fine if I launch it through the steam folder by executing ragexe, however, then I can't use my steam account.

That's strange, even without using the Steam auto-login feature, you should be able to use your ID and password to log in normally, please make sure you are using the correct credentials.

Try changing your game account password (NOT the WarpPortal password) and see if you can log in: https://www.warpport...ount/login.aspx

What ID and password? When you install and run the game from the steam client it never has you create an account. Is there supposed to be a username and password that I can use outside of the steam client?

It takes an ID and password, with Steam client you auto-login so the portion to enter the credentials is omitted.

Per VModPassionFruit suggestion, please try to login to Warpportal using Steam account email. If the password is forgotten simply go through Forgot Password option. Proceed as necessary to get the game ID/Password

I go through the same problem. I just restart the client, but it is obnoxious. If I go standalone, it works fine, but I have to buy my WP through Steam, so it's not the best solution.

This solved my problem. I just can't use the steam client to launch the game. Any idea why this is happening?

Unfortunately this has been an ongoing issue with Steam, I will put a reminder note to look into it since it has been reported multiple of times already.

For the time being, the available solution is to launch the client directly from the folder, when purchasing KP/VIP please launch the game through Steam.

Note:

If you are on Windows 10 look into disabling XBOX DVR, it may or may not help, so give it a try.
