kind of new to Ragnarok so I wouldn't know much about skill builds and stat builds. I was wondering what stat and skills should I get to prep monk next?

For Combo Monk... build I am going with:    80str, 82agi, 34vit, 36int, 46dex, 2luk

high str for high combo damage

82 AGI so I can actually combo. Too much aspd and comboing becomes difficult

40 vit because you will get hit and you will still need to use consumables at times. 90 or 99str is a waste of points for their return imo. Monk has less hp than BS, Sin, Knight so yeah....

36 int = 48 buffed for SP regen and bigger heals.

46 dex = 60 buffed. Don't really need more than this since Combo monk isn't ideal at MVP.

2 luk = 5 after job bonus for an extra point of flee. dunno nowhere else to put this point.

5 or 10 trifecta. 10 will give much higher non-combo dps and higher trifecta dmg. 5 will let you combo more often. I am going with 10 as I will frequently party with a battlesmith for adren rush.

5 or 10 iron fist. I recommend using Maces. They flat out deal more damage, saves you 5 points, and chance to stun is really useful (Stunner)

Skill build I am going with:

Divine Protection Level 10   Demon Bane Level 10   Ruwach Level 1   Teleportation Level 1   Heal Level 7   Increase Agility Level 10   Blessing Level 10   Holy Light Level 1 Quest Skill Iron Hand Level 5   Call Spirits Level 5   Absorb Spirits Level 1   Triple Attack Level 10   Dodge Level 10   Chain Combo Level 5   Combo Finish Level 5   Ki Translation Level 1 Quest Skill Ki Explosion Level 1 Quest Skill

This leaves 8 points left over to get Aco Skills (max heal / warp) or get Mental Strength for tanking.

What you think about this vid?

|Guy has 90 agi and mostly relies on triples, not even bothering to chain into further

I think this is a pure leveling build , for someone who has no idea how to make the best out of combo skills , he just plains use 190 aspd build to get to lv 99 for rebirthing.

He will get to 99 rather easy, but basicly the only thing he can do is left clicking... ... nothing special actually.

90 agi is not bad. I have thought about pushing AGI to 90 at the cost of some int and vit actually, but to not use combos is a real waste. He might as well make a battle priest at that point.

I forgot to respond to your initial post, but this particular post I'd classify as bad advice unless you have near flawless latency and ping.  Or as RealGarion points out, is based purely on leveling quickly and isn't concerned with actual comboing and damage output.  The funny thing...faster AGI combo monks are slower to level at higher levels than slower AGI combo monks because of consistency of combos and thus damage.

To properly combo with agi over 80 before Agi Up, you'd need a ping of about 20 minimum.  Or you'll likely miss your spamming.

It's more common for combo monks to get around 72 or 74 natural AGI, or go less, for more VIT.  The idea isn't to combo faster, it's to combo more often, and let the damage be the guiding principal in how you kill.  Then assure you get level 5 Triple/Trifecta so you trigger it more often, as the 2nd and 3rd attacks weigh by far the heaviest in damage output.

It's not even just latency issues with the server, it's also timing issues with the keyboard to computer connection, as not everyone has blue-tooth / Firewire / USB 2 or 3.0 keyboard that responds almost instantly.  Or a quick-key multi-tap programmable MMO oriented sideboard (though you can use them for shooters, they're designed more for hotkeys and macros).

Nevermind server lag, which will mess up timing, and the faster your character is, the harder it is to start a combo, let along get the timing right for finishing one.

Of the 30+ combo monks I've built, the super speedy ones are my least favourite, even when I was pinging at 2~10, with 0 latency issues, and a super speedy gaming keyboard.  They're just damn hard to be consistent, and I usually find I deal less overall damage, take more, and thus heal more often, really bogging me down on certain maps I should have near 0 downtime (and do with slightly slower builds).

Nevermind the problems since Renewal with Hit rate.  That Dex is just far too low for mid-upper and upper-tier monsters.  Which is sad, because combo champs/sura's can just dominate in Geffenia.  Not sure about Monks though.

I'd recommend more DEX first, a minimum of 60.  Int hitting 40 before bless is fine, and Vit to 40 is solid.  Luck isn't required, but it is fun to crit now and again without reliance on Fury state.  Though I'd recommend this more for Trans combo builds.  However if you have extra points in this case, especially for Perfect Dodge, considering dumping the rest of your points there.

You also have to recall this would be a comparison between pure Renewal and Revo-Classic.  We're on old RO HP values, so most of the later/higher tier enemies tend to have substantially more HP to blow through, or only a little bit more, but on a whole generally more.  Plus this is slower, and one has to stick as a monk for awhile.  Thus it's better to aim for a more useful build, one that can also dish out more damage (real combo) in a given moment versus general DPS (pure auto-attack Trifecta).

I wonder how they'll rebalance the actual Renewal specific content...or if they will?

I don't disagree with you, but I have ran with "90 agi" due to miracle buff and/or blessing (80 base) and it is not too fast for me to consistently combo with lv5 trifecta. I HIGHLY doube that i have 20ms ping. You can also "spam" slightly your quad hit key when trifecta triggers if you want...but it probably comes down your reaction speed for comboing into thrust. I can consistently hit combo with 80+2x AGI no problem.

"gaming keyboard" doesn't matter. Bluetooth is slower than wired. What would matter more is the response time of your monitor. For example, I have 240ms reaction speed on my work monitor vs 140-160ms reaction time on my home 1ms response monitor. Monitor makes a huge difference in that the game is "happening" on your PC not exactly in sync with what is displayed. Keyboards have lower latency than your monitor.

Attacking faster is not "worse" if you can actually react to the combos. It's only worse if you cannot. It's also worse if you have to sacrifice too much VIT/INT/STR to obtain. I currently have 80agi on my Monk and I am constantly craving more attack speed when my miracle buff wears out (90agi drops to 80agi base)

Thats all good and dandy and nothing wrong about, except one thing:

The video isnt about someone who uses 90 agi ... its about someone with 190 aspd, there is a huge difference in that and the way you control your combo monk. The video shows someone who doesnt control him at all... thats my whole point. You cant use this build since there is not enough equip avaible to do that and even if you can its not a combo monk it is just a left -click and wait trifecta monk ,nothing more.

I think

6281170818170615897 has a very solid build. If i compare the stats onto the flee/hit chart for RE:start.

His dex is not too low. 46+14 (60) you will gain 335 hit. enough to hit around 90% of all the mobs ingame.

with a pantie/undershirt it will have 329 flee.

next to that a decent amount of int to keep comboing/heal.

and just enough vit to take the hits.

i think im gonne follow ur stat build. it looks promising.

I'm still deciding to keep flee on lvl 5 and maybe put the 5 points into Mental Strength
