There is one difference, private servers do not need to make significant amount of profit to stay alive. WP is a company and its staff want acceptable salary up to the industry standards, private servers have less or no such problem at all. Being an official server iRO has contracts with kRO, they have to pay to run RO server and receive updates, while private servers do not pay kRO anything and use all contents for free(hence why they are illegal). They also have less control over what contents they can have, while private servers just take whatever they can from kRO updates without restrictions. You apparently have missed out this thread from a few months ago, and the reputation of private servers aint as good as you think. For the ppls who quit iRO, they are far more likely to end up playing another game, than on private servers.

yes i know about the reason our updates sucks, but still it could be fixed, if gravity wanted, but they don't so meh, let's keep gambling

people were whining about iRO being p2p being too expensive and now we are forced to spend hundreds of dollars per month (if we are unlucky) to get certain items that might never come again and will rise in price thanks to this bot and cheat infested server, its a genius move to completely kill off the part of the community who isnt cheating, RMTing, botting or a vet who has billions in multiple accs but logs in maybe 10h a week. Since 175 was introduced we are stuck with the same 2 trash areas, how long its been, 3 years, 4? restart showed that they arent really creative in setting up a decent server but they are doing a heck of a job in killing them off.

they either give their accs away or RMT it away, its not making that much of a difference. Some let their accs rot ye, but there are a lot more money/item filled accs than actual players on chaos, pretty sure.

and not only that but they took their zeny with them and sold it for irl cash.. which is of course reasonable when you are really quitting, but still affects the rest of us playing.

i think we're in an era right now where most of the vets left due too all the broken shiz/woe dying.. but there are for sure new people that still come into the game though. i meet noobs all the time and give 'em crap gear thats better than eden stuff. its just that down time.. waiting for all of those players to rise up in terms of gear/knowledge.

and most of those new players are, sadly, stuck buying the very zeny that the old vets are selling. these things take a while

you cant ask newbies to farm billions of zenys with faceworm. Most newbies will quit once they realize that they either pay2win on big scale on a game/server thats p much dead in most aspects of the game or that they either grind 100s of hours to get below average gear or just play games like WoW or almost every other MMO where you can start from scratch and are competetive in 1-6 months

Thats true.

 

RO was always a hard game to catchup due to the bots/cash shop,now with OCP`s it's even worse.

 

That's why the PVP/WOE is dead(not only because of that),veterans left and newbies don't want to try the scenario knowing the huge gear cap.

the reason why iRO is in this state is because the staff doesnt do their job 100%. those people probably poops 10 minutes everyday and takes a 10 minute cigarette breaks every hour.

 people like you exhisted already 15 years back, and they had nothing useful to say back then. Repeating it nowadays makes you look like a very not smart person. But hey, if this server dies I lose 500$, which is sad but welp. People like you prob will lose a lot more and MMOs which are toxic to newbies die, thats a fact.
