I'm not sure if Shield Boomerang will even be good under RE mechanics, but I really want to play it.

I was thinking of something like 100 VIT with bonus, around 80 base STR and 60 base DEX

- Is 80 base STR usually enough?

- Should I get more than 100 VIT, it gets around 15k without Peco card equipped and I feel it should be more.

- Is 60 base DEX enough to hit high flee classes in WoE?

- Should the remaining stat points go into AGI or LUK?

I'm sure you know the dex doesn't matter with Soul Link and that Shield Boomerang is kind of crap without link anyway and it's only use is for applying status effects on targets from afar since they work with the weapon status card.

Apparently Holy Cross is the most useful skill a crusader has in Renewal or so I've been told.

Yes I'm aware, I'm just trying to make it work in this pre-trans setting so I'm not accounting for Soul Link. So it's hopeless then? Since I've been told most physical damage is pretty buffed in this version I've been hoping this could work.

the highest vit you could have (not factoring in job bonus, gear, etc) is 94 with the rest of your stats spread out like they are. at lvl 99 this would leave you with only 6 points left to invest.

now with 10 Faith (which is required to get Devo) you will have 14,415 HP. Your dex would net you a hit of 163.

Now you could go with 90 vit, giving you 14,168 HP and get up to 66 dex which would give you a hit of 178. 2 points left over at lvl 99.

your stat goal is pretty well set in both the devo build and shield build, so you can easily combine them.

these are just the needed crusader skills to get you where you can grab devo and leave you with 13 points to distribute as you see fit.

Faith=10

Auto Guard=5

Shield Charge=3
Shield Boomerang=3

Reflect Shield=5

Holy Cross=6

Grand Cross=4

the big downside with the stats above is...you have nothing in Int, so you're SP pool is rather low, sitting at 508. so you would mainly be focused on being a tank.

Thanks for the tips. I came up with just ditching the idea of boomeranging things and just get HC to 10 to dish out some damage even if the DPS will be low.  At least I will be able to kill some things, I'm sure (in PvM).

About the low SP pool I don't really mind. I will be using WoE Potions.

I am very aware this build is very, very sub optimal. In the end all I was planning was to have some fun with it.

Hey man, if it's just for PvM and levelling why not go completely Spear? Does a ton of damage plus spear quicken also gives crit now if you ever want to just auto attack things. You'll do a lot of damage in pvp as well but I'm sure you know you don't have much in survivability. Still great in defending castles though.

Unless your main point of this is really for PvP/WoE and using devotion on people but with damage capabilities for levelling by yourself then I think your build is pretty ok for doing both.

I gotta tell ya though, if you go purely shield for PvP/WoE reflect shield and auto guard is really really good. I see mostly trap hunters and monks in pvp and shield reflect works wonders against those 2 classes. In WoE as a Knight It's only monks right now that can really kill me. Though you will be dependent on parties for levelling.

In the end you should go with whatever makes you have fun. Good luck, I'm really excited for Crusaders to come out :)

no problem.

and honestly it seems okay to me, Sacrifice Crusaders is one of the two most requested party Crusaders in RO from what I have heard...the other being a GC Crusaders.

heck i'm taking a challenge (and a risk) by going GC/Sacrifice

If you plan to max out HC though, you would need to tweak your stats a bit.

Your str and dex are okay...but your vit would take a hit dropping down to a max of 80 so you can invest into int (40-60).

as to the previous poster, the whole goal of this was to use a shield with sacrifice. unfortunately spears are more 2-Handed than they are 1-Handed. And having that high of a str combined with a flamberge will do wonders

here is the site I was pulling the stat numbers and skill layout from

I wouldn't worry too much about investing on int because of how easy it is to get sp pots in our server
