Again, much like with the vending machine quest I posted about earlier, this would have some pretty self explanatory benefits. A simple quest at level 85 would do. There should also be an "About exco" conversation option (much like Gwen has for element dungeons, that one could explain a bit more and better as well...) at Lucius that explains the basics of it.

There could also be an earlier level quest that tells the player that such a system exists, and that they should come back once they've hit level 85.

Kinda off topic:

This game really doesn't explain itself at all, and I don't think it's a good idea to add new unexplained systems. Perhaps a new 'Tutorial' type of quests for clear differentiation would be a good idea. Could also cram the instant crafting quests at early levels in that category, they really cause there to be too many hero quests as soon as you play your first few hours which is not good.

Some systems that could benefit from an tutorial quest or a similar update:

  1. Silver coins/vending machine (not explained)
  2. Exco (not explained)
  3. Element dungeons (poorly explained if the player talk to Gwen)
  4. Instant crafting (explained well enough, but 3 useless hero quests at early levels are in my opinion harmful for the new player experience. Also the systems themselves are useless, but that's besides the point)
  5. MyHome (Very poorly explained by Jesse with features that are not currently working also mentioned)
  6. Enchant powder cubes/purification stones (not explained)
  7. Production system (very poorly explained by a few quests, even many old players still haven't bothered with this system because of that)
  8. Community events (not explained)
  9. Soulcrafting, enchanting (explained in the journals help section in a reasonable fashion)
  10. Socket card system (not explained)

I'm sure there are more, really I feel for new players or even people who haven't played since say 2011, there are so many things they'd need to learn and most of them are not really intuitive. You guys have any to add to that list?

It's also a part of the experience learning about new stuff that you didn't know about and asking around different more experienced players gives the game a continuous flow of connection to players that need help. Some form of tutorial wouldn't hurt but I also find it as a form of exploration just like playing a new class, like which skills are good, what to max first, where to farm gold fast, how to get better gear etc. Elements like this made the game fun for me when I was a kid when I got a new item and I told all my friends that maybe it's worth a lot or fighting new bosses which you saw in the loading screens when you entered maps in those areas. All in all, some form of tutorial I'm okey with and it could be needed in some places, but figuring out things yourself connects the community and makes the game more of an exploration which is nice for an RPG like this.

That's cool and all, but as the experienced player it gets rather tiring to have to do the games job for player after another. It's not good to not explain systems in your game to players, period.

Well, I found it out on my own.....and so did my friends. Yes, we did not know everything right at the day we started playing but we learned the things by doing and by just observing others.

Edit: Learning the things on our own was fun though and part of the game experience for us.

I think some of the ideas in this topic are good and some of the points could need some kind of tutorial quest. I'm just not sure if all the ones you listed really would need one.

Sure me neither, but it would be positive if all of them were explained better. That's a lot of work though.

One other thing, lower levels should be able to see the exco shop so they can see what they could potentially get for their exp at level 85, might encourage people to get there. Unless there's some bizarre technical reason as to why this can't be the case.

Some players are unfortunately not as intelligent to figure everything out on there own, I've seen many players pm me about some basic stuff precrush has listed because they don't know how to do those things not to mention those players are well above level 40s. Some level 84 guy pmed me saying how do you convert silver coins into souls a couple weeks ago o boy did he have a lot of souls when he found out that vending machine.

But then again I guess having it so that some players ask help from others is also part of the game with social interactions albeit that some players also like to play solo.

This idea is great and it would be very helpful for newbies. There are still many new players and even old players(played for few months) who doesn't know about many systems in game. Unless they luckily got accepted to join a big guild, else it would be quite challenging for them to find someone nice enough to teach them about those systems. I can say that most of the "pro" and old players would just ignore the newbies and their questions because the fact is it will take them some time for the explanation or their answer would just be 1-3 quick sentences leaving the confusion to newbies. I also already helped quite many people with their questions about the game so I know how long it takes to give them a good explanation, quite long but I still love to do so.

The most unknown system is the socket card system for sure. I have seen that even lv80+ players don't know how to upgrade a card or how to get a card.
Monster card system is also unknown by many players.

But one problem is many players skip most of the quest in game and just focus on leveling up or farming so we can't be sure if these mini quests would help. They may just skip the quests too and then go ask some high level players again xD

That's why it would be good if there was a 'Tutorial' type of quest, there wouldn't be too many of them, they'd have no prerequisite quests and be clearly important for a player wanting to know something.

I agree.

Also, in galaxy dungeon. The people who are new to the game don't know the importance of it, or they don't know that the Serpents drop at +80 mode for example. I personally wouldn't have known it, if I didn't have helpful and experienced guild members to point it out.
