Decided to visit my old characters after almost 2 years. No one is left playing this game anymore? Where is Nifflehelm? I remember that was promised before I left. Don't the new developers do anything or are they finally giving up on this game?

Hello flukeSG2,

it's nice to see you returning out of curiosity. 

It's true that there's no trace of Nifflehelm yet in game but that was delayed for much better reasons than "developers [...] are finally giving up on this game". You've been missing for two years so at first glance it's impossible to notice the many changes that had been introduced during this long period of time... I probably can't remember them all but here's a few:

 

- Battle Tactics' formula has been changed in order to bring balance between classes;

- Damage luring you out of Hide has been changed to prevent Assassins and Rogue to deal x4 Crits;

- Chunglimsa Runes don't stack up by 3% as they used to, they are now subject to a diminishing increase (ex. before: 0% > 3% > 6% > 9%, after: 0% > 5,17% > 9,84% > 14,06%; before: 45% > 48% > 51%, after: 45% > 46,60% > 48,11%);

- New currency has been introduced, "Diamonds" can be used to purchase useful things from a special NPC located in South Prontera (you can add Auras to your gears, you can transmogrificate your gears into any other gear of any other class - this is though race-locked and you can't do it with Weapons;

- New purple slot costumes have been introduced;

- It's now possible to change your gender and appearance with the help of a Kafra Item;

- Card Refine System has been updated: it's now easier to have high level cards and the cap level of cards is now +10;

- AoV levelling system has been streamlined: more mastery points are given by quests (more quests were added), monsters from Dayr on have now elements, you now require less mastery points to level up then before (ML 39 to ML 40 needed 290.000 MP, you now need only 90.000 MP);

 

I am sure I missed a lot of parts but Warpportal is working hard to change for better what's already in the game to make it more enjoyable for players who are joining now.

they have a lot of new stuff .. just not em big things yet.. still hoping for major happenings eventually

Most of that was here when I left.  Battle tactics, x2 damage from hide, chung lim sa runes and card refine are the only changes since I've left.  While those might be good...there's nearly no one in game anymore.  I would probably play a bit if there was new content, but as is, there's not point.  Even my gear from 2 years ago is still top tier.  Whats the hold up on content?
 

Nice to see the changes we'd been asking for the past 3 1/2 years from when I was a VCR.

I haven't playes since february 2016 and was about to open a similar thread. I was surprised to find in my computer a 2014 screenshot, when I though the server was about to die for sure, and then check it's still alive and kicking.

 

Is that... is that all? When I left that contrived and expensive ssystem to mix new armors with old models was recently implemented and Niflheim was all the rage at the time.

So... is that bullet list REALLY everything that has happened in a year and a half? Those are pretty much some minor balance changes. By this time I expected to see not just Niflheim but also Geffen (that north desert portal has been taunting us since 2013... 2012 maybe?).

Guess I shouldn't even ask about content relevant for those under ML30 xD

 

That said, the "more quests" part interests me, the whole Saintess kidnapping seemed to lead nowhere so if something has been done about it that's nice.

Is it feasible and reasonable to solo-grind in Dayr for a while now (until that ML30 barrier at least) or is it still find a party and grind in circles for several hours? I kind of want to play around with my soul maker for a bit - and make some actual progress.

I have seen the 39-40 part but eh, 1/3 of several days is still a lot of time.

 

P.S.: I forgot I had this avatar. Ogura Yui is the cutest

P.S.2: can I get my sig back? I promise I won't put anything about Terms of Service, that game is dead now :<

Hi Fluke.  I think many of us had ran out of patience unfortunately.  Especially when there is a lack of attention given on the player interaction side of things regardless of our discussion 2 years ago which allows the exploitation to carry forward for as long as it wants.

 

The good news is, there is less or no lag in WoE even without using alt+f12 these days.

Hi Fluke.  I think many of us had ran out of patience unfortunately.  Especially when there is a lack of attention given on the player interaction side of things regardless of our discussion 2 years ago which allows the exploitation to carry forward for as long as it wants.

 

The good news is, there is less or no lag in WoE even without using alt+f12 these days. 

 

Well, I still agree with the removal of the main gate to Prontera, makes absolutely no sense what so ever when you are able to participate on both fields.

 

However, I'm not really much interested in PvP at the moment.  I'd be much more interested in some new content like was teased years ago.  What happened to it?  Why are there no changes beyond adjusting stats?

 

Did they finally give up on the game and not tell anyone?

Ragnarok Online II team has been working very hard for more than a month on updating the PvP aspects of the game. Colosseum System revamp is soon to be released, then Jehoon and War of Emperium will follow. 

 

In the meanwhile many bugs have been fixed and will be patched soon.

 

I think it's important for all of us to always remember that Warpportal is a small company*and so is the team that takes care of Ragnarok Online II. 

 

Please, be patient! Warpportal hasn't given up on the game and they need our support and understanding.  :thx:

 

* this means you can't compare it to Gravity Korea, X-Legend, Blizzard, whatever other publisher that has a wide team of designers and developers.

Anyway, let's be honest: we all want new content, but is the game ready for it? It isn't.

 

See what do we have now:

- getting a/more than a Stat to its cap doesn't require any effort. This means you can get to max vigor and spam Ymir, Crowd Control skills (Stun, Fall Down, Knock Down), and other not-competitive tactics;

- cards (that now can be refined up to level +10) give ridiculously high stats;

- DoT skills are still ambiguous since their damage doesn't consider Defense in its formula (should it? should it not?);

- the gap between some classes is still too wide (Assassin, Rogue, Priest Vs Ranger, Wizard, Beastmaster)

 

This is not all but it's all I can think about right now, 

so tell me, if they were to add a new map tomorrow, how would it be?

 

If now with Serenia gears and the actual cards we can already cap stats so easily, what Niflheim gears should be like? Less stats? Higher stats? What's the point to give higher stats if you can already cap everything now? 

 

There are really MANY things that have to be changed before, else working on new content now, in the actual state of the game, is totally pointless.

It's just that updates have slowed down too much...the same for bug fixes...

Also, it has been a long time since it was said classes balance would be made; at the same time the fact that there are such issues regarding stats, DoT, etc just shows how much work WP team had to do in the past 2 years... I mean, by having issues to solve/work on can't be an excuse/reason to slow down update/bug fixes...and it's just sad to hear that they are working on Colosseum, woe instead of focus on those issues in order to make new contents...

Poke told me there was a clip on Youtube and/or Twitch for the Extra Life stream where whatever was discussed was discussed, there is nothing on either website regarding this.  Are the changes you mentioned earlier what they talked about or is there more to it?

 

If that is the excuse, why did they go ahead and make everything so easily obtainable and ruin future content?  I think we know the real reason.  They've had 2+ years to adjust any stats needed for the new content they teased to us.

I'd probably play a little bit if I had reason to, but I've been gone for 1 1/2 years and nothing but stats have changed and that only took me a week to rearrange my gears to be in decent form.  As is, there is nothing new, even the events are the same sad ones that have been repeated for 5+ years.
