If you say this server is dead then the other private unofficial servers are even worse. This server may have not many players but you can still see newbies often and it's also more active than other private server. Updates are still coming out weekly.
Thanks you Easy, i just wanted to know because i wasn't sure, i played since 2008 on Dragonica so i wanted to know !

Dragon Saga -is- Dragonica. Or better it once was, after all the changes the staff made to this game here it truly became unique in it's very own way. This right here is the one and only international official server.
Poppie (Popcorn, developer of this game) once told us we have about 2k people online within the peak times of the day (which is EU and Sea daytimes). He answered this after Precrush answered a user question regarding how many people play on here. Sorry I can't find that topic or else I would link it for you.
If you think this is a low amount of players or not you have to decide for yourself. But the time the EU server closed Shazam (CM at that time) called the server population "a good handfull of people" which I asked him about. He never gave me the real number of the playerbase at that time in the past but told me it is a 3 digit number and he was talking about the entire playerbase at that time and not about the users online within the peak time of the server.
Since this is an international server people of many different time zones play on here, to be honest nearly the entire world of DS players plays on here. So it is always a "come and leave" though all 24 hours of the day. While you start playing for the day others stop and go to bed. This to me was a bit strange at first but believe me this way you do make a lot of international friends all around your playing time.
Just try it and see for yourself. If you like it bring friends, we can never have too many people playing on here.
Edit: Oh yes and I totally forgot. No this game is not dead in fact it is still being developed and worked on to this day since the day the EU servers closed.

Usually we don't answer any topics which contain talks including p-server talk of any kind because it's not allowed here on the forums. But I decided to answer here again (even though this question has been answered before already).
After the original devs from Gravity Korea dropped the development early 2014 the USA branch of Gravity (Gravity Interactive) which are also owner of the trade mark WarpPortal under which all their games here are published took over the Dragon Saga development in mid 2015 and actually started development late 2015. Dragon Saga and Dragonica are technically the same game but is called differently for legal reasons in North America. When all local servers closed this only existing official one became the international server for Dragon Saga (also known as Dragonica in the rest of the world). When we started developing we had the same version as anyone else (Galaxia resp. Cassiopeia). Nowadays we are the only server which has the official Arcadia Update. The whole Arcadia update is our own development and not available anywhere else.
To make it clear: P-servers (including the one you mentioned) are not legitimated servers. We don't support them and using the Dragonica/Dragon Saga source code/servers/client is prohibited to use by anyone else than the official companies who own the license or are licensees of the Dragonica/Dragon Saga rights they got from Gravity. No p-server has any official license which means they're using the game illegally. They literally stole the game and the content to make money out of it. All money you give them go into their own wallets. Even though they claim they're official they aren't. Dragonica/Dragon Saga is neither abandonware nor open source. Even though they might use the Gravity logo on their websites does not mean they got any license. The logo is used without permission.
If you want to play on a real official server where a real company is supporting you and where you know that your money goes into the development I would suggest to play on the official server and not on any non-legit p-server.
As for the playerbase: The player base is still constantly growing after the game closed worldwide and we took over the development.
As Fliederduft78 already said, due to the nature of a worldwide server the players are scattered over the different timezones.
Most people are online due to EU daytimes but there are a lot of players online in the other timezones as well.
I hope that we can welcome you to our official game and community.

I think your french private server has some bitter people who lied to you so you'd stay with them.

In addition to what Popcorn said, this game seems to have VERY VERY good player retention (Not that many people are leaving the game). You can take a 1 year hiatus from the game, come back and see more or less the same people and the same guilds are still around. With new players coming everyday and not very many people leaving the game, it is really easy to see that the game is indeed growing.

more like come back one year later to see them with a shaman or invoker char cuz their previous one was trash in comparison

Technical support > proposal.
But don't expect too much and don't suggest some hard-to-do or impossible stuffs because it will just be ignored. Just an advice

Well, it's not impossible because they did it before the end of the EU server, they just haven't done it on thoses, so i'm going to ask it, but i don't think that's something impossible at all
