how to go there? i tried talking to the fountain and it only says, "The crack looks suspicious, but nothing more to check"

I think its maybe the Amdarais. Did you kill him or were you on the screen when he died?

you forgot to click the npc Varmundt after killing Corruption Root

It happened to me or maybe it was at the second part. He can do it once more and see if it could work like that.

It's the counter for Amdarais then the conversation with Varmunt that triggers the fountain to open.

 

Failing to get the counter to Kill Amdarais before killing him makes it impossible to get to the treasure room.
