Mr. Catpable Hybrid Build Doram (Magic+Support)

WELCOME TO MY THREAD

Overall, people prefer to create physical build over magical and support build because of their DPS. It's very easy for veteran player with unlimited fund to create this deadly cat but how new player or lack of resource do this? The answer is simple make hybrid build. In this guide, I want to provide some insight how to play hybrid build which available for every player.

I.Pros and Cons

Pros
+Jack in All Trades
This build provide you to being capable both AOE DPS and support at the same time. You can be offensive using your magic or support party with your buff.
+Less Consumable or Not at all
Tuna Party at lvl 3 will provide you 50% Hp recovery which mean higher Hp will defeat ranked wsp or same as yggseed. Tuna party also has no catalyst except sp cost so you can save your weight limit.You can use fresh shrimp for hp regen.

+Solo any instance and TI
With high offensive and defensive capability, you can do everything alone or together in party. If no one accept you in party, no problem! Do it on your own! Of course join party will make your life is easier so decide it on your choice.

+Affordable Gear for every player
Doram set and weapon are accessible for every player. Some people vend its with cheap price. By using this set, your cat doesn't need phen card or spellflow set. You can hunt yourself if you are new player.

Cons
-All About Magic
Being magic user means we must cast our magic everytime. Some people who like auto attack style might not like this build.

-Lack burst Damage
Our Trump card DPS "CN Meteor" is Damage overtime skill which inflict damage over time. The damage can be increase by wearing next tier doram set (100%/150%/200%).
Silvervine Stem Spear are not quite feasible since the fix cast make it less spammable and elemental will hinder your performance against holy and shadow property monster. We can improve our damage by using high matk equipment and modifier.

-High Mdef Monster are your worst enemy
Really, this problem will cause your DPS reduce in various ways. We can't use Nyang grass to reduce enemy mdef (if you prefer some support skill) or using magician glove. Fortunately, we can have nightmare mimic and arclouse set and big ben and neo punk set to reduce demon, undead, formless, and brute so we able to recover some damage that lose because high mdef monster.

-to unlock catpable true potential you must give your efforts on some gears and cards.
No gain no pain. The high refine doram set will provide more bonus stat and reduce fix cast time. This will beneficial for us, but I think the most important we must invest in high refine foxtail staff which provide bonus 100% equip matk at +10. Some card like raydric on garment or verit on shoes will help our survivalbility on all situation.

II. STAT BUILD
As the catpable doram, stat are the main factor differing with physical build. Here my recommendation for Catpable Doram

Str 1-30 (only for max weight, ignore this completely if you can purchase weight limit box)
Agi 1 (I don't think we need this except you want to WOE. Bleeding can be cured by casting purring.)
Vit 95-100 (Vit is very important for survivability. Hitting 90-100 will provide huge amount max hp and stronger tuna party.)
Int 120 (No question here, INT for your damage and max sp. Reach 120 after you can obtain vit around 50-90.
Dex 100-120 (Faster cast and little matk. Since CN meteor and SV stem have fix cast, its not quite worth to get 120 dex)
Luk 77-or rest (You can put another point to here. Reaching luk 77 will unlock arch angeling card and unlimited sp is yours.)

III. Your Gears
Weapon: Wondrous Foxtail Staff(min lvl 100), Magic Foxtail staff(min lvl 140)
This are your mid game weapon and also end game weapon. It easier to reach +10 since its lvl 3 weapon and has 2 slot. You can opt Yellow Magic Foxtail staff but since its lvl 4 weapon and has 1 slot I think other 2 staff will better. Ignore this if you have unlimited funds).
Recommended card: Nightmare arclouse and Big ben card. This card will reduce mdef penalty so no other card better than this.

Armor, Garment, Shoes: Doram Set
You don't need FAW, HBP, temporal dex shoes, variant,or valk armor because doram set cover all of them except susceptible to be broken. By wearing this set, you can have max hp and max sp boost. Say good bye to phen acc or spellflow set.

Recommended card:
1.Armor choice
-elemental card (swordfish,dokebi,pasana,ED card)
Sometimes you solo MVP alone, so having armor with elemental effect are must.The priority are Swordfish and ED because major boss has Water Ball which fatal for you and ED could take care shadow element attack and magic and also immune to stone curse and freeze. Since tuna belly ignore ED card effect, its very good choice when solo.
-offensive card (Agav, Darklord Essence)
More Matk in exchange less defense? Why not -5 hard defense won't be much different. Darklord Essence of int could be good alternative since you don't use str at all.
-defensive card (peco-peco, pupa card)
More max hp will increase your survivalbility, pupa can be use for low lvl or budget. Peco2 will be better because doram default hp modifier.

2. Garment choice
Defensive: Raydric or Deviling card
Offensive: Antique Book card
Elemental: Marse card
Not really much option but they are best card for your garment. From elemental card reduction, I suggest at least you must have water reduction card because water ball is hurt as ....... other elemental not quite recommend since not many boss use wind element or fire element.

3. Shoes
Defensive: Verit, Matyr, green ferus, firelock soldier
Offensive: nightmare verit card
Good defensive card can have you more max hp. I prefer verit since give you max hp and sp. Nightmare verit can be good for offensive but need to has high refined shoes.

Shield: Valkyrie Shield
I don't think we need other shield with better defensive than this shield. If you like offensive I suggest mad bunny or gaia shield for extra matk.
Recommend card:
-Nightmare Mimic or Big Ben
As part of ignoring mdef, those card can provide major defense against brute, undead, formless, and demon so no need to buy teddy bear, khalitz, penomena card.

-racial reduction card(depend on your hunting place)
Racial reduction will reduce damage even more. Just put appropriate card on yout hunting ground.

-hodremlin card
If you can afford few racial card or too lazy change your shield, HAVE THIS.all size reduction will reduce damage by 15%.

-Alice card
In some case, fighting mvp or boss could be difficult so put this on our beloved valk shield. But when fighting demon, undead, formless, and brute, I suggest use nightmare mimic-nightmare arclouse and big ben-neo punk instead. DONT EVER USE THIS CARDED SHIELD IN PVM OUTSIDE MVPING!

Headgear:
There are 3 kind headgear you can put on your cat. I prefer using Lush Rose or Celine Ribbon as my upper headgear since provide high flat matk. I don't think other HG such as Crown of Deceit can compete as no matter you stack cast reduction you still have to cast it because fix cast.
For veteran or higher fund, zaha hat doll can be used for huge amount matk during transform duration.
For middle and Low HG, I suggest put moon eyes patch as cheap middle gear and strawberry Mouth guard for more max HP. If you have unlimited budget, Mob scarf and sunglasses combo are recommended for high massive Matk (up to 360).

Recommended cards:
Offensive: Weakened Fenrir card
Cast time: Clock Tower Manager,Dark Illusion, or Isilla
Defensive: Arch Angeling, elemental reduction card, bungis.

I prefer to use offensive card for upper gear or middle gear as CN Meteor is neutral element and affected by high matk. If you think cast time important, putting isilla are not bad enough since CN meteor proc its effect. Defensive card can be used if you afraid getting died often. Arch Angeling are good option for middle HG, stacking 2 AA card not really good since you will rarely lack of SP.

Accessories:
Since your will likely using CN Meteor or SV Stem Spear your choice are:
1. Charming Grass Necklace and (Basic/Fair/Advanced) Leaf Charm for CN Meteor
This set will increase CN meteor damage according its tier (100%/150%/200%). You get bonus hp and sp btw for every tier of doram set.
2. Double Shining Branch Charm for Sv Stem spear
Those accessories are must if you wish to single target DPS magic. They increase SV Stem Spear by 1% per level of SV Stem Spear known for every 6 base INT. Using 2 acc at the same time will reduce "var cast" by 100%. I don't really think you will use it against mvp since holy and shadow will reduce your damage. The only good thing of using this accessory is when fight gloomy under night with ghost element.

Other accessories:
1. Silversmith Braclet: Dispel to intrupt enemy cast or boss
2. Kirin Horn: Free Increase Agi

For card:
Offensive: Scaraba card for extra 20 matk
Elemental: Elvira card (wind+ghost)
Utilities: using other card such as creamy card for teleport skill

For low level you can use under cast clip or using tuna party for unintrupt cast.


III. Pick your Skill
For this build I will combine magic doram for offensive and support doram for defensive. If you want get nyannyan grass, you must sacrifice your tuna party level and not getting grooming.
This section will divide according to its skill tree
1. Basic Skill
2. Plant Skill(magic build)
3. Seafood skill (support build)

1.basic skill
You will have to put your first nine skill on this part except soul attack. I will explain some essential skill from this skill tree.
A. Lope
Doram body relocation, can move on other direction and have cast time and cooldown. Use it to escape hit lock or faster movement.

B. Hide
Your hiding skill even boss can hit you. You will likely use this skill if you not getting by enemy during it cast. You can take a break during boss battle by using this. To cast it successfully, use lope or tuna party before hand.

C. Sprite Marble
Extra max hp and sp for low level which very good
D. Stoop
Doram Mental Strength which very AWESOME because you can cast other skill during this skill activated. It reduce your incoming damage by 90%. But it only has 6 second duration. Use it wisely during mobbing, mvp, and also pvp.

2.Plant Skill
Welcome to Weed Style (just joking). This tree skill will provide you awesome damage and capability as magic doram.

A.SV Stem Spear
Your single target magic spell which can have 5 element depending your skill level. Max this level to have benefit spirit of land. Use fair bunny to improve its damage.
B.CN Meteor
Your fruits meteor storm will smash your enemy periodically. Its damage increase by its skill level. MAX IT as your main source DPS.

C.SV Root Twist
Your weed plant web will immobilize your enemy and hit your enemy by 100 damage. Its quite useful for low level and still shine at mid and high leveling. It can be cast up to 3 time at once. This skill can not be used on boss monster but few MVP like Wandering Purple Dragon can be inflicted so you can farm in hazy safely. This quite deadly in pvp. You can cast it on same monster to extend the duration.

D.CN powdering
It say its reduce enemy attack and improve hp/sp regen. You must cast it on enemy to feel the effect. Useless skill but max it for spirit of land effect.

E.Power of Land
Free +20 INT and get you 20% matk if all previous skills are at max level.

F. Chattering
Activate +100 Matk for short duration and faster movement speed. Great Escape skill and short matk buff.

G. Nyang grass
Aoe debuff which reduce hard def/mdef monster by 50% for certain duration. You can opt this skill if you want more damage on high mdef monster in exchange losing tuna party.

3. Seafood Skill
Your supportive skill will make you able you to be front line support class or maybe provide solo capability which make your solo leveling and farming easier and Cheaper.

A.Fresh Shrimp
Provide AB renovatio effect with no cast and faster recovery. You must wait it effect end before you can cast again. Pretty useful for low level leveling.

B.Shrimp Party
Your AOE heal, it cast over yourself, your party member, your mercenary, your party member Mercernary, and the last your party member homunculus. It heals around 1000-1400. Usefull in every situation. Can buff the user and the other for extra 10% atk and matk. It consume shrimp for each cast so use it wisely or save your remaining shrimp on your own rodex in case your run out of shrimp.

C.Tuna Belly
The Best Healing spell in RO which can heal according to max HP. Free YGG minus sp recovery. Having level 3 is mandatory for 50% recovery. It can heal frenzy RK and Madogear, and ED armor. With this skill, say goodbye to WSP and his friends.

D.Tuna Party
Tuna fish will protect your against incoming damage up to 50% max hp which mean as long its durability not wear off. Protect yourself with this skill during mobbing and your party during TI or instance. Tuna acc will make this skill quite spammable with low cooldown.
E.Power of Sea
Improve your healing efficiency.Not really useful.
F.Grooming
You receive bleed during PVM or MVP? Say goodbye because this skill will cure it. We just need lvl 1 for all purpose activity.

IV. How to Play Catpable
To use this build is very easy

How to use fight on PVM?
  • cast tuna party to yourself before mob or fight
  • When you think your mob are enough cast CN Meteor
  • If your meteor not kill monster(s), cast stoop and proceed cast CN meteor again. You do not have to cast stoop if your tuna party still activate but I believe it will run out when mob high lvl monster.
  • If monster still alive, tank it by yourself and cast tuna belly when hp reach 50% or less.
  • If your monster die, cast tuna party and begin mob again. Rinse and Repeat.
How to PVP?
Is that possible to kill other player on pvp? Yes, it possible as long he/she doesn't wear GTB shield =P. Even your cute cat can kill lvl 175 player.
  • buff yourself with tuna party
  • lock your target with SV twist root.
  • Cast CN meteor and watch them die helplessly.
  • if your enemy still alive cast SV root twist again and cast CN meteor until die.
This strategy quite works for short range character and can be use when gank in party. To fight against long range skill character or magic user, stoop is necessary to survive.

How to Fight MVP?
It also possible to kill MVP. All you have to do is prepare your gear. As catpable you can kill low tier to mid tier MVP easily. I haven't try to kill high tier mvp because I'm still not confident to survive.

Gear
  • prepare elemental armor and elemental proof against mvp elemental magic like drake with his water ball and mistress with Jupiter thunder.
  • use nightmare mimic and arclouse set to fight undead and brute mvp. Use big ben and neo punk to fight formless and demon mvp. Use appropriate racial valk shield to other outside mvp. You can use alice for boss protocol mvp like ifrit or mvp who not calling slave like wandering purple dragon. It acceptable to use alice shield as long you can kill mob immediately.
  • If enemy using storm gust, stone curse, or even shadow element attack, use ED armor.
  • Clean mob and MVP with CN meteor.
  • If you stripped or the mob are too crowd, use lope and cast hide. Wait until strip are gone or mob less crowd, fight them again.
  • Bring some consumable such as yggseed/yggberry/ale/Hp increase/+20 food are good choice as it improve your survivalbility on fight.
  • Bring token in case you die and get rematch!!

This is a fun build to solo with, it has a bunch of survival tools that help you gather mobs up and survive long enough to blow them up with Catnip Meteor.

 

I would add Zaha Doll Hat to the gear recommendations - at high upgrades, the proc effect will allow you to instant cast Tuna Belly if needed, or it can speed up another cast of Catnip Meteor.

 

I usually only use Tuna Party for the endure-like effect to help gather mobs up effectively, generally level 1 or level 2. Cooldown is 14 seconds at level 1, 18 seconds at level 2, these synergize nicely with Stoop's 15 second cooldown.

 

One thing to note about skill build is that you don't have to max the first four "land" type skills to get the full bonus of Power of Land, you just need 20 skill points in that tree apart from Power of Land itself. So if you go for Nyang Grass, you will get the full bonus no matter what since there are 22 points of pre-requisites apart from Power of Land to pick that skill up. I only max Catnip Meteor and have the other three early skills at level 3, I would only consider SV Stem Spear to possibly also max out.

 

One question I have that you may be able to answer is this: What is the cooldown on Nyang Grass at each level of the skill? I have not picked that skill up so far, but if it has a long cooldown it may not be that useful.

I will put Zaha Hat doll on recommendation for veteran or advanced player. The effect are good but we need to proc it.

About Nyang Grass, I haven't try to get it because 10 skill point requirement would only reduce number skills can be put to tuna party and tuna belly. Those two skills are very important to save my wallet from wsp or fresh fish.

What I like about Tuna Party lvl 5 is it capable to tank everything and pass huge amount of mob. I use tuna party to pass unnecessary mob on hazy forest. By using tuna party, you technically has 150% max HP.

Yes in a way it would.

 

Also put forward a few new extended class hats, one of which was Doram. While the initial effects are null and void on a hybrid build, the increased Stoop duration would still be amazing.

One tip for PVP:

Always bring Horong carded Acce/ or heaven's drive scroll(idk where this thing came from..there's a magic cat who have this thing). hiding will save your enemy's life .hiding ignores the damage of SV root and CN meteor..its weird if you ask me..aside from the fact that SV root's damage magically dissappears when your enemy is out of the screen (I just notice it after i got SV rooted by another doram). and have the Nepeta Cataria fruit on inventory to add curse status.

 

soo...yah..this is nice :D (my kitty is formely a hybrid magic cat...but i reseted it since i got leveling struggle)

It's not that it doesn't need it, it's just that like it's physical counterpart, you can't do without certain pieces. Though CNM Doram still has it the roughest since they need an entire god damn set for full damage.

Magic doram will lose its buff if you using celine brooch/magician glove. So the substitution are nighmare mimic and arclouse set or big ben and neo punk.

Hey guys, does your CN Meteor get cancelled after successful cast when you get stunned/sleep, etc? In this week's mid ti I kept getting cancelled by either centipede / pinguicula.

I think Centipede casts Ganbantein, cancels ground-targeted skills.

Is Kathryne Keyron card not a good choice for doram? (for +9 headgear)
