I know it's heretical to suggest changing monster drop tables and making a monster drop something from somewhere else for the sake of balance, but I also reckon not every idea the devs had ~15 years ago was the greatest and/or doesn't hold up to how the game's changed since then.

However, with that being said, could we please get Elemental Swords to drop from places other than Juno GD?

It doesn't even have to be a drop, you could make it into an event or something. I don't know. Just do SOMETHING that makes it so the current best weapon in the game for the strongest class in pvp isn't completely monopolized (technically oligopolized; I know) by the bigger guilds on the server! Holding on to those weapons the way they have been just makes their guilds get bigger and stronger to the point where nobody else stands a chance unless they join up and we end up with a server in which every week we see nothing but 3 guilds at woe (kind of the point that we're getting at already).

Could we please give the smaller guilds a chance? Some of us just want to have fun with their friends and not be forced to join the bigger EVE-like guilds just so they can get decent equips for their toons.

 

... And before you say it, yes, I know RO has historically always been terrible with its win-more mechanics and systems, but just because that's how it's always been doesn't mean it can't improve. Letting people other than the groups at the top have fun and be competitive would make for a healthier, funner, game in the long run.

 

Anyway, hopefully someone from WP reads this and something gets done about it. Thanks for your time.

I shouldn't have to organize an underground drug deal-esque situation to buy a weapon. 10/10 would make an anonymous online sword deal again.

You should try getting in contact with the guilds that own said castle, and see if you can get an invite to use their GD. I'm sure you would have luck, and I doubt you've asked

You are completly right with that suggestion, however i aggree with the first post, its not overall healthy that an (any) equip part is locked behind a (any) gd. The HWB falls in a similiar (not the same) category.

It would be however not an issue if said restrictead/locked area have a higher chance to drop (encourage the fight over said castles)

In my opinion, they will need to carefully adjust drop listing of other mobs to make this happen or create some sort of quest. I am not sure if it's on their table right now.

Idk, it's kind of the reward of those castles haha. There are always the options

 

1) ask for invite to farm to one of the big guilds

2) try and negociate with a friend/acquaintance in them

3) make allies with other small/medium guilds to get 1 castle

 

edit: I guess you could put it on the Karvodailrinol Raffler with a slim percentage!

The above suggestion, asking permission to join their guild for GD access sounds reasonable. I'm sure some of em are nice enough to accommodate you.

 

But making it drop else where? If every one has equal access, then what's the point of competing and trying? I mean if you want access to that GD for equips, then try to compete in WoE. You may argue that WoEing against big guilds is pointless because.. well, they're fully geared and have more members. But think about it though; these guilds did not become BIG in 1 day. Everybody else started from the bottom. They worked themselves up. Built their army, gears, reputation etc. After hundreds if not thousands of hours spent, they're now reaping the rewards. They can farm whatever/wherever they want.

Regarding the HWB. Them bigger guilds who had a head start are able to farm the HWB efficiently. Now that the community caught up and are now ready to farm the HWB, why remove it?

They are 2 different aspects that need to be looked into carefully by the game mods. Reward players that play hard. I'm not saying changing the drop lists of monsters to make it easier for people to access "rare" equips. If you want Elem Sword, win WoE2, or temp in a guild that has a GD in WoE2.

Ultimately, the game mods need to look into these carefully. Again, the idea of implementing X-patch is great. But they have to study it carefully. Test it. Ask the community. Don't just implement X because hey, it's on our calendar.

-1 even tho my guild doesnt have WoE2 dungeon, taking away the reward of winning a woe2 castle is too much.

 

You can ask your guild leader to ally/merge or something with another guild and get a castle there.

Not to be pedantic, but I would say it's really the alliances that run the server.

I would agree with your grievance about this long-term issue of monopoly if it weren't for the fact that these monopolies always change hands eventually. One day that guild you're in will merge with another or disband and the big guilds you see now will get absorbed as well. Leaders leave [Snip] and others fill their roles, even if the guild keeps the same name.

 

I also don't recall seeing anything like an event or change of mob drops on iro servers and would not see that as an improvement to the game. There are worse disparities than weapons when Gravity is always coming out with new weapons and gears anyway. Battlegrounds for example has some of the BEST in the game and that is something everyone can participate in (and it's coming to Odin soon!).

 

I think this is really only a problem for small or new guilds, plenty of which I've been in, and I consider weak access to be a cost that comes with choosing those guilds. With that said, even small guilds I've joined in the past STILL got those castles occasionally so I never felt the need to get access outside of that alliance. From my experience asking a major corporation big guild is a last resort in cases of leveling (say for getting that last 20% to 99), but hunting? That can take weeks...

If you want a small or non-existent alliance, you will be asking for favors from outside guilds either way (which is something I personally don't enjoy doing), whether for weapons, other items or even god item creation.

 

I started on Iris, a server with 800 active players in woe at many times. There weren't many alliances to choose from, but I've seen alliances expand beyond the three guild 'ally list' so high population doesn't guarantee you more options either. Large servers might be nice, but you can only get so many choices.

 

Changing monster drops....this is not a pserver Is a bad idea and I don't think special events would help. (As an example, an event giving out OCAs as a reward once went wrong with OCAs getting farmed like crazy and the server had to get rolled back. The more creative GMs get, the greater the mess when something goes wrong...)

 

The solution I would offer is really this; ask the biggies for temp access (   ), join a guild that has allies that can get one of those four castles or...think about changing guilds :/
