I was wondering, because the slot you mentioned seems to be for a card.

 

Essence are Enchantments, so I was thinking those three grayed-out slots were for the 1,2,3 combo.

Nope it isn't that way tho. Yes they are enchantments, i.e. the exemption for desocketing in Malangdo, but the way they are socketed to the gears is the same as cards. You can try it for yourself for your convenience

You can only put one Dark Lord essence in DGR. But to fully benefit from the bonuses, you can put other DLEs to any other gears.

Interesting insight, to think DLEs would make Demon God's Ring [1] a great accessory.

 

If I can put DLEs in different gears to outclass Demon God's Ring [1], I don't see this ring having any use in this server.
