So not only are they denied access, they'll be stricken from ROSE as well?

Wow, this really makes me sad :(   Hard to believe they are deciding to ban EU instead of just complying.  My son has met a bunch of players from EU and UK, this will not make his day to hear he can't play ROSE with them anymore.

This is the dumbest thing ever.

How many players are you going to block?

What happens to our characters and account?

Dear WP,

So finally after like 14 years you decided to ban European players. It's all good with me, but why do we get refunds from February till now only?

That kinda means we get refunds from the past 3 month, while some people might've played it all the time since existence.

I don't know about you, but that's a damn rip-off. It's even after the sale..

That's literally just stealing money.

Go on and block me for this, but it feels like money being stolen.

I don't think that the banning issue for EU players is a decision made by WP.. I think EU players should ask their government about it.  :hmm:

I would wait for an official announcement, but blocking EU players itself doesn't solve the problem they're trying to avoid. They still store data on EU citizens even after the block - all that data collected since WarpPortal began doesn't suddenly become exempt from GDPR -  so to be in compliance with GDPR, that data needs to be fully removed.

I'm hoping they realise this, and if they do, why haven't they put out an announcement with the action they need to take to be in compliance.

We know that we have (I estimate) 40-50% of players from EU. If even ONE of them made a GDPR request which wasn't fulfilled (there's a 30 day limit for replies) or was ignored after May 25 2018 then WarpPortal are lining themselves up for a whole boatload of a -_- storm given we know they EU citizen data.

Therefore, the only way for them to comply with GDPR, even though they don't want to, is remove all data relating to EU players - this includes your account.

ROFL, not adapting to some really easy new laws isn't a EU problem. Apart from the US, our laws tend to have more privacy.

WP has decided not to comply with the EU law and have decided to implement an IP ban on EU countries.

I have played this game since open beta in 2009 and it's really the only game I play online, even after trying various online games, I always return to Rose.

This is very sad that this is the way Rose goes.

I've met and made friends online and all that will now disappear when they ban our IP's. :sob:

I'm wondering if they realise this and the problems they will have with the EU if they don't delete the data etc.

I would have thought that it would be more productive to comply, after all it's only a database query to comply with any requests.

And Rose would still be going for us.

I don't know when they got informed about the entire thing, everyone in the Rose community seems to have the answers, but unless the Gravity management says something, we may not or never know. It could be they don't want to do anything, it could be their legal team is still working on it, could be something else. This isn't just Rose, but all the Gravity games, many good money makers too. Everyone thinks they know the percentage of people that will be blocked, again, there is NO exact way to know this without something from management.  It is all a guess.

Its not the players fault and we don't know the players will lose everything, it could be temp, we just don't know. The only thing we know for sure is there will when this takes place, be a ban on the IP Addresses of the entire EU until they get it resolved. They do not want the fines for not compiling with the EU order. Mind you, not sure if they can sue an American company not with an office in the EU, but they did sue Microsoft who has offices in the EU.

I am not giving up and am hopeful that Gravity can get this fixed asap.

Just my thoughts on this and hoping that Gravity can unblock all the IP's of the EU for everyone to be able to play their games again.

As they would say in the movie "Galaxy Quest"   Never Give up, never surrender  ....  had to say something different  :)
