*sigh* I'm from the UK and been playing on and off since beta 2002. Still had my original account so it was roughly 16 years old I guess. There was a horrible time back in 2003 where user data got hacked and login details leaked, many people got their accounts stolen and quit, but somehow I was able to dodge that bullet. Over a decade later I'm losing my account due to another user data issue and it looks like there is no way for me to dodge the bullet this time...

 

I was always glad to be able to come back to this game and plod along in progressing my characters, I guess my battle bishop and doram will never see their final levels... There are people who, though I sadly lost touch, I haven't forgotten. Back when I had more time to dedicate to partying with people I liked helping new or lost players complete quests, I had a lot of fun in social guilds too. I remember one time some random player in Payon gave me their gears to transfer to another character, an onlooker was shocked when I didn't just log out and steal it all, but I get more of a thrill in helping people than hurting (I wouldn't advise anyone transfer gears with a stranger though!). I can only hope that something changes to be able to play again.

This is one I took from 2003,in later years I looked back on it with a tinge of sadness as the population decreased, and now a whole region of the world is being severed...

Unfortunate choice WP decided to make. The EU players will be missed. And not just because there were many good people from there, but because iRO will probably lose half their player base. I had a chance to meet quite a few from there, many nice people.

Soudou, It was fun being in a guild with you back in the day. That picture from that picture thread of me is old, so many memories. Come to think of it, there were a few Europeans in that guild.

Yeah those kinds of social guilds were a lot of fun. I never had time later on to dedicate to being in a guild but I still remember all the wacky times we had.

Yeah there are some people I played with back in the day that just kind of disappeared sadly. Especially with server merges etc. over the years. I started playing on Chaos in beta days, then mainly played on Loki when that server was made, then got merged into Ymir, then merged back to Chaos again. And now merged into oblivion it looks like...

All we know right now is that after May 25th all accounts registered from EU will be inaccessible.

Only way to officially keep playing is by starting over on euRO unfortunately. euRO is vice versa removing players from outside Europe so some have swapped items with those non-Europeans who are forced to play on iRO. I wager that there are very few in that situation though since iRO had been more attractive to global players in terms of updates, I could be wrong but I think they don't have dorams yet for example.

EU region will be blocked from logging in to any accounts unfortunately. Some have talked about using a VPN to fake what country they are acessing from, but it is against policy so staff discourage it. I assume if any account is found to be accessing via VPN to circumvent the EU ban it would be removed and they'd have to start over again anyway.

 

 

For this time and case, I would advice against using a tunneling service to go around the policy, the consequences may be severe.

Two years ago, I used to be reported by a guy that thought me multi-windows leveling was illegal. I did nothing wrong but he decided to embarrass me. (That guy was even a ranger, a 3rd class, however, he knew nothing, insisting on "the last guy who did this has been banned".)

 

I don't know where is he from. But if he is from EU, good congratulations! He has been banned and I still alive, because I'm truly legal!

 

By the way, most of EU players in my opinion are friendly and I would be glad to see them. I just feel if that guy is banned like what he wished to me, how good it is!

You can give your items to your relatives, friends, family, guildies or anyone outside EU. Your account night be locked or deleted or anything but it's easy to create anew. That is if: a. you wanna return, b. GDPR was complied in the future, c. ban was lifted, d. EU's GDPR is abolished, e. God Save the EU

Its a bit sad that they claim theyll give us some compensation than get us banned first before even refunding anything.

How do they expect us to be able to respond once were banned?  oh wait... that was the plan all along
