Poll: which one do you think will yield more damage?

 

Katar

Pros:

-easy atkspd

-easy 100% crit 

-higher weapon atk

-cheaper

-100% on medium and 75% on small&large

-can switch to CRS/RC

 

Cons: 

-minimal card slots

-needs sidewinder/snake hat for double atk

 

Daggers:

Pros:

-can have up to 6~8 slots for cards

-no need for double atk modifier

-can do MA type

-???

 

Cons:

-pricey

-50% on large (which most mvps' sizes are) 75% on medium

-????

 

currently trying +9 crimson dagger & +9 valk knife with weapon perfection on and with no cards vs. +15 crimson katar with sidewinder & AK card. test result was it was lower than half than the crimson katar. (i know considering +15 crimson katar gives more eATK than the mentioned daggers and also no cards at that).

 

I tried the daggers with eggs but having weapon perfection only increased my damage by 5%

 

what i'm really thinking about is, is it worth it to switch to dual daggers considering you need more for ASPD and Crit Rate for it and i was thinking it may be equal to or only slightly better damage (with katar DA crit) in exchange for ASPD and crit rate.

 

any advice?

Sadly, DD Crit will only be better once the weapons are really upgraded and carded. Also, I read that WP/Drake only affects wATK, which Crimsons have very little of, so the damage increase will not be big. You need a reall beefy weapon for it to be worthwhile. Basically, if you can't +14 the stuff, stick to Katars for now. Work up to the OP weapons and there you will see the damage increase.

i have the funds to get my c.dagger to +15 and vknife to +12. although i'm kinda in a pinch if this will only give a slightly better damage than katar crit. it feels like i'm going to trade a chunk load of zeny, aspd, crit rate etc. for just a slight damage increase

With current things available (this can change with a single new OCP, ofc) and assuming you are not using megs, daggers. 

 

Since we currently live in the eATK age, I would not be too hung up on the large size mod penalty to daggers either. 

 

Though if we are talking about stacking MVP cards and god items, at that point, you have enough funds that you can experiment in radical ways.

Are you 100% sure about that...? You're saying that a ++ JDR with a Sidewinder Card/Snake Head will beat a +14 FQL [Drake/TG] & +12 Valk Knife [4x AK] with a Proc'ed +15 WDEH on Izlude Eggs?

actually i read it here that JdR with sidewinder beats any dagger combination in terms of DA crit. just can't remember who posted it. the reason why i think katar DA crit can be on par or even stronger than DA dagger crit but i'm still intrigued on dagger crits

The buff actually just buff super novice only , can pre-view it from Jro valk.knife scrip

Afaik DD crit was doing 40k more damage before Dog Tag.

 

About Demi Human, I tested +14 JDR x +12 KVM on Fenrir. JDR won by little - in that case I believe +14 KVM would win. Not sure now with the Dog Tag. I think it would be pretty even.

Like Dark And Silvia said, Katar Crit outclassed DD Crit even before the combo. It's significantly better now, except for demi-humans. KVM dagger is still far superior. IF you have a thana, that's another story :/

thats 100% damage to small size from DD vs 75% from Katar + 1 slot used for Sidewinder instead of AK. 

JDR attack scaled by Str, higher your str stronger the damage will be. but pumping total Str higher than 300 only suitable for RC GX.

 

i suggest if you want to see its full potential on your character, you can try to bring Mechanic for weapon perfection 

and Kagerou to cast Shadow Warrior on you ( lv 10 DA ) , and the JDR must be slotted with 2 AKs,

 

now this is enough to show us, how superior JDR is.

like no Dagger combo can beat it.

even more far superior if we get Meg Shoes later. due its gigantic Str bonus.

unless that 3 slot, level 4, occult impaction effect katar comes, JdR will not have a competitor.
