So I was stupid enough not to read the skills through and didn't know that each energy can be only used on one map, and I just immediately memorized orc map as a lunar place.

And somehow no matter which heat i use my char doesn't do anything? Later I tried to go to Low TI and set that map as solar and solar heat worked just fine. So I'm not sure what happened to my lunar memo, is there a way to check which map i memod as which just to make sure?

The designation is permanent, but it can be reset through rather a painful process.

You can try to use Lunar Perception on the map of your choice, and see the prompt window or the announcement that happens at the top of your screen. If the map is locked, it will say so, if not there should be a prompt.
