So basically I never played Ranger since the introduction of 3rds. Obviously not literally, but besides messing around when traps were braindead broken I never did anything else, so I resetted my old long sleep 150 Ranger and did some tests with some OK gear I had spare around and found the results beyond underwhelming.

 

I was doing around 100k+, something like 120k at max on Big Bells, which for current RO standards is literally zero, especially seeing that AS has like a trillion hours cooldown.

This is the gear I was using

 

 

 

 

I left the stats open on purpose, maybe there's some spooky item I don't know about that will be the secret so I didn't want to invest in case I needed 120 on something else. My gear is mostly enchanted, but i didn't bother with it much because none of it seemed it would make the difference for like 50k+ damage I'm missing right now.

Regardless, I would like to know if doing dong for AOE damage is just the current state of the class, and regardless of that, what other stats would you recommend for someone just wanting to arrow storm stuff. Feel free to recommend gears if you want.

If you plan to go pure AS, these are the recommendations that I would make for your build.

1. For base level 150, go 120 Int, 120 Dex, 72 Luk and 28 Vit
2. For base level 175, go 120 Int, 120 Dex, 108 Luk, 74 Vit, 9 Str
3. Swap Blacksmith Glove for Perverse Demon Mask. Perverse Demon Mask gives multiple stat points and 15% Physical Defense Bypass per 18 Base Luk, that means at 108 Base Luk it will bypass 90% of a monsters hard defense.
4. Get a +7 Prism Ranger Scarf for leveling, it reduces No Limits cooldown by 180 seconds, that means only 1 minute downtime between No Limits buff. This buff will allow you to 1 shot a lot of enemies.

These changes should help you out significantly.

This one will help you out the most. Even though I find it odd that you aren't dealing good damage with those gears.

So why is 120 INT to be preferred for AS builds aside from enlarging the Ranger's SP spool?

Another choice for AS build   

120 Dex
120 Agi < change from 120 Int
108 Luk 

rest Int - Vit     Vit for HP pool    Int for SP pool , AS cast time  <If you want to change to +9 Happy Flapping when go NCT  for guaranteed 1 shot mobs at early level

 

Change from Seraphim to Imperial Feather + RG Necklace    (120 Int  for  250 atk   vs   120 Agi for 180 Atk and some ASPD boost)  

 

AS dmg maybe lower than Seraphim  but  you can reach 193 ASPD  with only Awakening pots , few buffs   

 

 have some flee to dodge mob's attack    

 

and this build you can go hunt MVP with auto Warg hit lock   ,  more flexible play

 

 

for gears    stick with WW set  if want maximum AS dmg  

 

but you should have another set  when not in situation to use WW set

 

 

Garment :  +7 Prism Scarf   for  180 secs No limit cooldown reduction  good for instance or Bio4

(with right gear + cursed water  you can one shot Randel , rest mobs except Gertie  like a cake)

 

but you can't have complete WW set with this scarf   so you'll change other part  for boost your AS dmg  close enough to WW set

 

 

 

Armor : Still stick with high upgrade WW suit  (EA enchant  optional)   because it's boost  Long Range dmg 

      Abyss Dress  for Undead / Demon  and  Shadow / Undead element 

      Abusive Dex enchant    etc.

 

 

Shoes :   +7 Gray Wing  for   10% ranged dmg   20% HP / SP   if want higher HP , SP pool 

 

or  Temp Dex  EA4 Hawkeye    with Hawkeye proc  somehow dmg is close or a little higher than complete  WW set 

but I don't recommend for leveling  because it's drain total  250 SP per proc     :<

 

 

Left acc : Emerald Ring  [GS]     120 Atk total  from card+ring   ,   +10 Vit , Agi , Dex      

 

Right acc :  replace BSG with PDM  [GS] <  15% def bypass every 18 base Luk     good with 108-126 Luk 

 (108 is enough for AS  for Auto warg   120  because  raise from 120-126 need 190+ stat points you can raise a lot on other stats)

For lazy people like myself:

 

• Atk + 2 for every 5 base Dex.
• Reduces the variable casting time of [Arrow Storm] by 100%.
• Adds a 4% chance of restoring 1% of damage as SP when performing a physical attack.:
• If upgrade level is +9 or higher,:
  • Increases the damage of [Arrow Storm] by 1% for every 5 base levels.
