POST EDITED to make it more organized

A year ago (or so) I was thinking, can I make a figure of my own RO2 character? Well, maybe yes. But how? It was then I first encounter this tutorial from RD Gameplays & Tech when I search on YouTube. At that point my hope was high, even knowing that I have zero skill at 3D programs. Using the tutorials (and a lot of question and asking), I managed to extract the polygon mesh and the skins texture. It was then halted since I have no idea how to combined them. Yeah, it's stupid I know, but once again I have no one teaching me, so trial and error is my guru :D

bo4.jpgbow1.jpg

bow3.jpgbow2.jpg

If anyone here want to try doing the same as me (or even further, you can also teach me since I'm desperately need your help), I will enlisted the content and progress here.

Program that I use :

NinjaRipper : https://gamebanana.com/tools/5638

Alternative download link : http://cgig.ru/ninjaripper/

3DS Max (trial version) : https://www.autodesk...s_tnt=69291:1:0

Step by step :

1. Make sure you choose between x64 or x86 (if you're using 64 bit then choose x64), and always run it as Administrator, otherwise it won't be able to call the RO when you execute it.

2. Choose DirectX 9. Since my experience, this is the only working method to rip RO2.

3. Once it's calling RO2 and you've been logged in, choose your char and press the shortcut (F10 for ripping texture and mesh)

4. Check the folder created for files.

5. ... will write about this and next step later

My progress right now is stuck at how to DYE the hair and costume (the color here is always DEFAULT color, no matter what). I have no idea, since it seems related with blending the color (I already found the image color, but I still have no idea how to combine them). Also, the eye color and shape is pretty much DEFAULT, I need to find out how to make it looks like my char.

Please note, that editing this post is still NOT done yet, I have plan to include a video how using NinjaRipper's setting for RO2 and the script needed to import it to 3DS Max.

Actually it's possible but hard, right now i'm working in some that could help people to do stuff like that, but it's not that easy.
About the software that would you need would be anyone that allow you to model in 3D. Such as:
Blender: https://www.blender.org/
3D MAX: https://www.autodesk...ds-max/overview

there are many steps involved to convert the .NIF into any that Blender, 3DS Max, Maya, etc etc can use.

What I mean "3D printing your own char" is by extracting your character 3D model, not by creating your own 3D in Maya, Blender or 3DSMax.

I rip the character using Ninja Ripper, but the problem is I'm sucks at 3D modeling and I know pretty much NOTHING about them. So even after I can rip (or scan my 3D char) and get the polygon + the texture, I can't combine them into one. The skin itself like BMP files (pictures) and hair is pretty much FLAT (still not molded into the head round shape). If I know how to mix them, then I'm probably already 90% complete my quest (just need 3D printer or someone who have it).

These are some images I got from my character :

1. hair
Tex_0032_0.jpg

2. bow (its bow from COA)

Tex_0018_0.jpg

3. bonus the bow already with the texture wrapped onto the polygon :

bow1.jpgbow2.jpgbow3.jpg

I have always wanted to do this.

If WP provide us the 3D model in 3DSMax or any known type model, it would be AWESOME, but it's unlikely to happen :D

Actually you could just decompress the VDK files, the models are in the Actor ones, '.NIF'

EDIT : got it. But i'm still don't get it, which one is my char? I got several folders : Monster, NPC, PC, Pet and some files : char_shadow, Ground_TargetBeacon. And how to open that file .kf?

I wonder, if I opened it, would it be with my costume and acc too? Or it's just plain, standart NPC?

Got into 3DSMax and it's messed up like this

fakedup.jpg

I have no skill at all with 3DSMax, pretty much 100% n00b, I don't know how to fix the "skin" to match the mesh.

Finally got it right, some of the "skin" are inverted. I found it by trial and error, testing each function 1 by 1, n00b way :D

Wow!  Way to go dude, keep it up, I'm very interested in your progress!

Star Trek Online actually offers players to be able to print their customized ships via a 3D printing partner they have.  I think I asked 3 years ago if Warpportal would consider the same, I'm positive people would pay to print their characters.

Thanks. The problem is, that 3DSMax result is basic equip and all. The color of the costume and eye color are default. My costume is pink and I have no idea how to "blend" the default color with pink dye that I've extracted with Ninja Ripper. I got the color, but as I've mentioned before, I'm new to 3DSMax or 3D software, with 0 knowledge. Need more help from google and youtube I guess :P

Also since those are just the meshes you're lacking the skeleton to pose them:  I've been working in some stuff and needed to pose the models, so still trying to figure out how to do it, this is an example: https://skfb.ly/6AWyE

Also if the UV are inverted (When the textures get bugged like that), just flip vertically it's easier.

Yeah, somehow I think it's inverted and that's how I finally can fixed it. Problem now, how to pose and fix some of the color that customs, such as hair color, eye color, costume color, etc. I still have no idea how to do that. Well, using VDK repacker I found some interesting file name such as F_NORMAL_WALK_FRONT_01.kf which I think it's a function file for how female char walk, maybe.

You Ibrahim, is that your sketch or you rip from the game? Very nice one and smooth also. Great job.

Yeah you gonna have a hard time being able to pose the characters, since getting the files from Meshes doesn't gives you the skeleton, about the Ibrahim it's the in-game model, i'm using a lot of stuff to being able to pose him, that's what i'm testing right now since well there is no support at all for NIF, KFM, and KF files. KFM are the ones that resume all the KF files, meanwhile KF ones are the animation.

Yeah, and to make it worse I don't have basic knowledge about using 3D software at all. I guess I need someone's help, jeez.

You're doing it good, I'm jealous :D
