Hi, I'm a returning player.

 

I saw a Thief Bug-type monster die in town (why did it spawn there anyway?) and it dropped a Shadow Pendant and Earring, I believe.

 

Is there always one in all towns? And do they drop all of the base Shadow equipment?

Yes there is one in every town, they give +3 to all stats if set is complete. You can easily hunt them in izlude and one spawns immediayely after you kill one.

There's a bunch of costume equipment now. Some give hit, up leech aspd,etc. I think you can get most from Kafra shop. Or players vending.
