Another question about what's better! I couldn't really find any discussion regarding these two specific items for Genetics, so lets start one!

 

Now, obviously the +12 MBS (Mad Bunny Special) has some perks to it -- specifically it gives ATK% and +ATK, it reflects damage and it gives cannot be interrupted at +12! However, it has 0 DEF.

 

However, some of us may know the RGS (Royal Guard Shield) gives us access to Shield Spell. There's currently a 'trick' that lets us gain an additional 150 ATK! when we swap to Anemos, Gaia or Happy shield. 

 

I suspect I already know the answer to this, but let's have a discussion.

 

 

So, the questions are:

 

1. Which shield is better for Genetic's DPS?

2. Which of the 150 DEF shields are better? (Gaia, Anemos or Happy)

 

 

 

 

I've seen most people just go straight towards a +12 MBS, but I'd like to think that +12 MBS is a great shield pre-instacast because your spells cannot be interrupted! It has a lower level requirement, and its got some good ATK bonuses but 0 DEF (Except from the refinement bonuses). However, when we gain insta-cast, I suspect that it'd be better to switch over to RGS+Anemos/Gaia/Happy shield since we're now getting 150 DEF (Not including refinement bonuses), 150 ATK and potentially more damage against a specific element. 

 

Is Anemos/Gaia/Happy > +12 MBS?

 

And if so, which of those shields would you consider the best?

+12 MBS is going to win out for damage unless you're specifically gunning for a wind or earth type monster, in which case Gaia/Anemos will be better. Happy shouldn't even be on your radar for damage.

 

Of note, some people prefer Gaia, and less so Anemos (Gaia weighs less for the same stats), for their indestructibility. It's actually quite OP for MVPing, especially on classes that don't have access to FCP.

I'm specifically talking about Anemos/Gaia/Happy Shield + Spell Shield -- you gain 150 ATK from JUST the Spell Shield. Not including the +50 ATK, +30 MATK from the Gaia/Anemos shield's own buffs.

That's more damage than what +12 MBS can give. (+20 ATK, 5% ATK where even if you have 1000 ATK that's still only 70 ATK total)

You're misunderstanding how the Royal Guard Shield is used, then..

 

1. Equip the RGS.

2. Cast Shield Spell.

3. Swap to Gaia/Anemos before cast is finished.

4. Confirm it gave you the buff.

5. Use whatever shield you like.

 

The buff doesn't change depending on the current shield's defense, only the defense of the shield equipped when the cast goes off.

Oh, I thought the buff drops off when you switch to another shield -- is that not the case? I may have been ignorant about that part

Click is correct. You can swap to whatever shield you want after buff has been confirmed.

Def is useless in PvM. I think +12 Bunny is an obvious choice that people choose to use. For example, GX doesnt need a Shield (DEF) and it is the best PvM class.

poor RG, your good skill for buff can used by all class without side effect

annoying. wasting BMx3/gum time, especially when u always land on spell u dont want

atk+30 still okay, but atk+150 or same bonus atk like RG?
