Basically it's a build with 2 Protectors.
This setup has potential to work with Biskra and DC raids.

1st Prot is the main tank:
Max points are all in Shield/Block Defense.
- a few points can by pulled off attack or restraint, if you don't plan to take your Prot to PvP.
- Main Tank

2nd Prot is the back-up or 2nd tank:
Max points are in Spiritual Intensification and DNA in reducing heals' cool down.
- 2nd Tank

So what effectively happens?
1st tank max in Shield/Block def with max Spiritual Intensification from 2nd tank.

In effect, the 1st tank is getting max of both Block and Def stat.
- Survival Instinct = lv10 (459 SDef & 459 LDef)
- Strengthened Survival Instinct DNA = 6 (294 SDef & 294 LDef)
- Skin of Stone = lv10 (666 SDef)
- Strengthened Skin of Stone DNA = 6 (426 SDef)
- Shield Mastery = lv10 (91 Block)
- Strengthened Shield Mastery DNA = 9 (249 Block)
- Aegis of Protection = lv7 (100 Block)
- Strengthened Aegis of Protection DNA = 0 (0 Block)
- Shield Fortress = lv4 (8% Block)
- Strengthened Shield Fortress DNA = 4 (4% Block)
- Spiritual Intensification = lv7 (998 SDef & 998 LDef)
- Strengthened Spiritual Intensification DNA = 7 (998 SDef & 998 LDef)
Effective total before gear:
SDef = 459 + 294 + 666 + 426 + 998 + 998 = 3841 Short-Range Def
LDef = 459 + 294 + 998 + 998 = 2749 Long-Range Def
Block = 91 + 249 + 100 + 0 + 8% + 4% = 492.8 Block Def

The only draw back:
- the main tank is weaker solo'ing vs. the 2nd tank solo'ing.
- the main tank will get a total of 6 buffs (minus the Physical Blessing) & 3 heal HoT buffs.
-- coupled with Ele's' HP bliss and WL's HP bliss, and Rad's Def and potential debuff from mob may cause some buffs to fall off due to 15 buffs/debuffs max per character.

Yea you're maxing everything possible with this but is it really necessary is the question.

I don't know.
Just wanted to see if it was doable.

I don't know if DC only requires 1 Prot.
I suppose that Prot needs to be geared.

But if they are not, then maybe this setup (poor mans way) can work.

idk about dc but for bisk you just need someone with about ~2k def and ~10k hp and it's easy as long as they keep agro

fun facts:

i did 3 rhs 2 days ago in 1 day.

first was random pug raid, had lvl 79 prot, 76 healer and 65 healer - tank died, healers died, many people died etc. crap raid

second 6 people party: 79 mystic(tanking, no not blaze, it was someone with actual dmg and no need to wait 5 years for agro build), another 79 mystic, me on tempy, 69 ele and two 70+ healers. 0 deaths, myst hp barely even went down took about 30/40 min. great

third raid was repose dps bonanza, anyone with agro tanked, 1 good 75 healer, very little deaths, very fast and fun.

Oh my... 79 Protector died and Radiants died too? How you do this... I would assume there was severe lag or little attention or both, because otherwise you have to make an effort to screw up like this! :)

It can happen if protector don't have decent base HP (I know some prots that have less than 8k HP at lvl 79), or if there are no WL and ele in alliance. Many factors, such as lags, and missing HP bufs owing to overbuffing.

Mmmm, less than 8k HPs at lvl 79, we are talking about Protectors, right? Jeez, every day you can learn something new... I suppose they still using lvl 35 Khrentium set or something, for some obscure reason?

Well, actually few things can really go wrong in a raid, and they have to do with either the tank or the radiant(s) or both. Everything else has a much lesser impact. And one advice I tend to give when asked... try not to send a small guy to handle something big at the front, disasters waiting to happen...

.________.

This event has ruined high levels heh... There's so many capped players now that still don't even know how to gear / build / play their toons -.-

On the RH thing Nin, I died twice at last RH on my radi - for some odd reason I was stood at max range from the tank (19, 20m), and tank was stood back from RH, yet the Earthshocks still got me. Had the other radi (Heilerin) not been so awesome and on the ball, tanky might have died then after that.
(Another reason for more and more HP for prots - buffers for XX-ups like this).

Bear in mind I used to stand 4 metres closer when my Mod Party heal was only 16m range, not 20, and not get hit.

Anyone else noticed a range increase? Or was he just XXing with me :) I'm sure the other radiant got stomped at max range too.

I did the calculation.

A Prot at lv79 + Seamless Gear Set S2 (+0) + SL ID set (+0) + Plus 1 HP and CON eximus enchant + 20x6 HP xeon (1 on each jewel) = a Prot with less than 8K HP.

In fact, they have ~4K HP.

I have also performed some calcularions of my own. Here I will elaborate some.

Although I dont have any specific data about the base stats at level 79 for a Protector, I will assume they are the same as those of the Commander (at least this seems to be the case at lower levels). So, for a naked level 79 Commander / Protector we have 651 CON and the actual HPs are about 3500. I will keep this value for simplicity, the difference from the real one is probably very small.

I will now assume that a level 79 Protector is using the following: 1) +10 Seamless Polar set (lvl 65 one), 2) +10 Rounderoot Egis Shield (lvl 65), 3) +10 Level 65 Sword / Axe / Hammer, 4) +10 Lab MC set.

I will not show the detailed calculations, but here are the final results:

1) A total of 1500 HPs gained from the Seamless Polar set.
2) A total of 390 HPs gained from the Shield + Weapon.
3) A total of 1390 HPs gained from the Lab MC set.

As for enchants: I will assume 4 successful enchants for every piece of gear. I will also assume using 15 HP xeons for the Lab MC set, and 2 CON xeons for the Seamless Polar set + Shield. I will assume NO HP enchants on the weapon.
We get a total of 480 HPs from enchants on the Lab MC set and a total of 140 HPs on the Seamless Polar set + Shield.

Adding all these bonuses together, we get 3900 HPs. Adding the character base 3500 HPs, we get a grand total of 7400 HPs.

I will assume a costume is used, so the grand total is 7900 HPs, only marginally below 8000 HPs.

Now, conclusions. It is pretty obvious I have used very modest gear and enchants, actually I would say this is pretty mediocre equipment for a level 79 character. However, I believe no one will argue that this is perfectly and easily obtainable by anyone, even a free player. I have only assumed S2 gear and xeons are used. I have only asssumed a modest level of reinforcing and enchanting is achieved. I have not taken into account several other bonuses that may be applied. For example, guild GvG stat and HP bonuses, Pet bonuses, TD bonuses.

It is pretty clear that a Protector at level 79 SHOULD be able to reach 8000 HPs with ease. I would expect someone who has reached the maximum level to have at least some good rare equipment, if not carus. I would also expect a good level of upgrading. These alone should easily push the HP mark considerably higher, since rare or carus equipment DO offer more stats and thus HPs.

Final conclusion: there is NO reason for a level 79 Protector to have such lousy HPs. Even, a free player can do better. Unless we are talking about true fail characters who somehow got propelled to 79 without ever spending one second thinking about what they are doing or caring to build a decent set of equipment. :D

I have a 69 prot who wears full s2 gear except for his shield. He is sitting on 8.5k hp with no enchants and no shoulder. RH +11, SL-ID set, costume, no pet, no gvg, no bonuses whatsoever he has right at 8.5k hp. with the bonuses and a decent shoulder +enchants and a better weapon 10-11k would be easy. There is no excuse for a 79 prot to have 8k hp.
