I've decided to make a WL. Since I am kind of bored of my GX and Gene. I've never made a magic class before. I have some transferable gear and can figure the gears and skills out for the most part. It's the leveling a mage I am stuck on.

Currently 37 right now leveling on greatest generals and kinda over that. Would leveling with Fireball on orcs be beneficial? Or get thunderstorm and level with that somewhere?

My gears are just basic noob gears. Nimble clips, phen, and a arc wand I think. Haven't had a chance to gear up. Don't have a ton of zeny, maybe 500m. I do have kafra points but saving for holiday firesales.

Orcs are earth. Fireball is fire. Elemental advantages. Just run and kite them, stall them using Firewall then kill them using Fireball.
Go get Survivor set. It's cheaper now. Affordable.

I know about the elements. Thanks for the fireball suggestion though. Got wiz in one bm3. I have almost all of the survivor set just need shoes. I figure I just level using SG/LOV until I get WL then get earth strain and whatever the wind attack is? Is there any other skill I can use with this set?

When I hit lv100 I first maxed Soul Expansion then Drain life lv4.

Having a little trouble picking between headgear cards for my s.circlet. Was thinking about putting weakened fenir but 25 matk doesn’t seem like it would make a big difference. Would kk be better? I decided to level my sage instead and now have a scholar. Working towards sorc when I get bored of my gx.
Current gears are
+9 s.circlet
+9 survivors rod
Immune cloak of survival (I have a second empty one thinking antique book?)
S.orb/ mob set from gx
Phew clip
Random armors a mage class can wear.

Put tikbalang card on the circlet.

MATK +10. Wind Magic damage +5%.
Additional Wind Magic damage +5% when Upgraded to +9 or above.
Class: Card
Compound on: Helm
Weight: 1

And yeah I'd go antique book personally unless you plan on going true KK valk knife eventually (then use ancient mummy)

Thanks! I will look around for a tikbalang/antique book card whenever I log on. Don't think I can afford true kk.im used to going overweight for my melee characters. For scholars i imagine it's gone to go overweight since I can just indulge?

Close to getting sorc I am a little confused about the elemental spirits. If I summon a wind spirit will it affect my wind spells? Are insignia's worth getting? This is for a pvm sorc. This is what I have so far. Most likely going to use survivors set unless I decide to invest more into this character.

Summoning ventus alone doesn't affect your wind skills. You need to use Lv1 Spirit Control for you to get the skills buff. Take note that the buff depends on the level of your summoned ventus. For more info, check this out. Or this <--- easier to understand for me lel

 

Are insignia's worth getting? 

Definitely yes. But for now, focus on other things. Get insignias when you're done with your offensive skills. Or you can focus 1 element if you like. I recommend Lv1.

 

Lastly, I saw your skill tree and I think it needs a reset. You need to max out all Endow skills (except Endow blaze) cause they are part of the damage formula of DD, EG, and VS.

Also, Earth Grave requires Lv5 Earth Spike.

 

Please correct me if I missed / stated something wrong above

Thank you!! I just threw that skill set together during work. I will get endows, didn't know they were used for skill damage.

Do you have any suggestions for solo pvm skill build? I am searching the forums but not finding a lot.

As Ash said, Nogg2 is a good option. If you don't feel like walking too much or don't have a warp, you can grab Juperos Warp and do Juno Juperos BB's. Other nice option is doing Geffen BBs on Glast Heim or Geff Dungeon.

question about enchanting Celine Ribbon. IRO wiki says there's a chance item can break. Does anyone know the % of breakage? i bought a +7 one and don't want to risk it and lose out on most of my zeny.

magic attacks cannot leech.


although in most non instance places, Scholars/Sorcs have the easiest time using Kahii.

Party is not necessary

Marriage allows you to do it with a single Linker and no other requirements.
But if you use 2 of them, while under Soul Linker spirit, you can use Ka- spells on anybody wich is cheaper individually, and cheaper in the long run for multiple chars.

This topic remind me of when I was trying to start leveling a sorc but got stuck when my damage isnt that great to solo and also because I loath becoming an sp battery for party when I already played FS AB before. Forever lvl 126 sorc.
I might be picking it up again after reading some of the tips here, just waiting for exp rate and free time.
