I've put up a few chats ingame looking for people who know Aibou, but I figured I'd try here as well.

 

I'm hoping someone knows Aibou (https://ropd.info/?account=657133). We were close friends who spent a lot of time together back in 2004-2008. We sadly drifted apart as we both got busy in life. Recently had a bout of nostalgia and when I went to reach out to her, found I had lost her contact info. 

 

I know she left RO about 1.5 years ago (according to ROPD), but hoping someone knows how to contact her offline and can put us in touch.

 

Can you help?

No, she kept a low profile in general, which is one of the reasons why not many people know her. She had a pretty small group of friends.

As far as I was able to dig, no one is left. I'll make another pass to check. It looks like she may have deleted her facebook, none of our other friends see her anymore either.  T_T

I remember from the discord channel, but I don't think she's a she, but a he. At least that's my impression when he... ummm.... slipped up in the voice channel.

You can try to search up Chaos market. Perhaps he sold all his items there before quitting and should give you a good lead.

any char from 2004-2008 wich stills at Lv102 for sure has change the account or just quit long time ago.

 

by clarification, some people use the same nickname over many different games/services . You should expand your search beyond ragnarok

Basically, instead of looking for Aibou directly, you actually doing search for Aibou's close in-game friends from 2007 through 2018 with the assumption that she filled the vacuum with someone else to extensively chat with in 2009.  Perhaps you can find links to her facebook account being mentioned in archived posts at the internet archive? 

 

You know, after all these years, the person would have developed an alternate life with work, marriage, and family.  Maybe even one of her children is named Mike.  But if that person still somehow loved gaming, then you can still try to pursue her through whatever friends and twitter you can find links to.  You said you lost her contact info.   If you contacted her outside the game with email using one of those email management sites, then you might make an appeal to an administrator there for them to dig up the past email addresses you had sent emails to.  Business records last for seven years.  Some sites may even keep a list of the 10 most recent prior email addresses you sent to in the SEND TO: buffer.  So at least you should check through all your oldest online email sites.     If you used an email client program (e.g. Eudora) then check your windows registry keys just in case you hadn't used it to send to a lot of other different email addresses.   Her email might still be hiding there.

I mean that's the whole point of catching up with old friends isn't it? To say hi and see how they're doing, how their life has changed. The whole point of me reaching out to the community is to try to find out who her friends have been in the intervening years. She's always kept a low profile but left lasting impressions with the people she has met. 

 

Despite what some people in this thread seem to think, people moving on with their lives doesn't mean they stop being friends. People reconnect, they drift apart, and they come back together again. Some relationships are worth reconnecting, some aren't.

 

Thanks for the suggestions I'll pursue some of them. Unfortunately we interacted mainly through AIM and Ventrilo and texting. AIM is gone, Ventrilo has no records, and my old phone got tossed.

I can assure you, she is a woman. We've met in person. Its possible someone else took over her account. Which discord was it? I can drop in and see if anyone there remembers who was using her account.

Then you will change the search from looking for Aibou to looking for all her friends from 2009 onwards.  If you can't find them, then keep digging by looking at the internet archive for posts that have links to the facebook pages of their friends.   As you uncover more people, they may be able to point you to other more recent sources.  Or one of them might finally say "Aibou relented from her hate of Warcraft and finally created an account there with the name Ai Oboeteimasuka" or whatever other lead you may get.   As I said before, your real hunt is not for her, but for all the people around her. 

 

Certainly, the records exist at warpportal.  But you'll have to contact the CIA if you want to know.  Whenever I forget my passwords, I shoot off a quick request to CIA.GOV and they tell me all my passwords that I forgot.

 

Remembered Life Story:   One day while chatting, she talked to you about her volunteering at the local food bank for November 2007.  --> there are only so many food banks in that town, so you probably know which one if you searched. 

 

Remembered Online Activity:  One day while chatting, she talked to you about how she edited a page at wikipedia on Olive Oil and how she posted about fake oil.  She commented about posting a link to a PDF.   -->  time for you to check which account name posted that PDF

 

Remembered Situation:  One day, Aibou talked about editing a page at IROWIKI for the Blank Card In Mouth gear.   -->  these page records are gone from the current site, but Bluenesssss might have the names AND VERIFICATION EMAIL ADDRESS of accounts back then.

 

If you still have the hard drives from your OLD PC or laptop from 2004 to 2008, then you can try to search through the file records for her contact IP address and linked name.   If she had a website, it would possibly still be listed in INDEX.DAT or whatever similar file other browser types use.  Some sites save searches as URLs so that INDEX.DAT could potentially have the url with a phone number if you ever absentmindedly did a search based on phone number.  I'm not saying that is rational or actually searchable, but I am just grasping at straws for ideas on what you could have done back then.  There are tools to dig thru those.
