I am newbie here, just played for a week.  i bought a succubus egg from one of the vender . and it turned out a awkward status pet, instant ran away after hatching. heartbroken. :sob:

Anyway, is there a safer way to buy a pet? anyone knows? :hmm:

Newly hatched pets aren't supposed to come out like that unless a user starves them purposely.  It sounds like the previous owner conned you just so they could get a laugh.  It sounds reportable, but I don't know for sure if it would be or not

Ive never seen a pet run away from me but if Im not mistaken the status should be hatred or something like that for it to run away.

also you might wanna edit the name of the vendor out before a vmod sees it.

edit: just checked irowiki. lowest intimacy is awkward

Did you feed it twice before waiting for hunger to tick down? A newly spawned pet won't run away until it loses loyalty to either hunger or overfeeding.

i did not check the hunger status, but  intimacy was awkward.

Either way, they were selling a bad product.

The whole pet system is pretty frustrating, but basically you should never _over_ feed it, cuz that causes intimacy loss too. In some cases when I buy a pet, I will often just sit with it out in town or something to constantly feed it at safe intervals to ensure a single death won't send it running.

Dang, succubus is going for near 300m now, too.

You might have overfed it. You can safely feed pets when the hunger level is 'neutral' or below ('hungry', 'very hungry'). Don't let it get to 'hungry' just to be safe because you lose loyalty at very hungry.

Intimacy is not hunger. Could have been awkward but in satisfied hunger status. Feeding it at that point is overfeeding and that reduces intimacy by a lot according to the wiki.

Could be what happened. Still a dick move to sell one like that though.
