I think the stock answer is "if you can stack enough atk, then maybe"...

 

 

...  but if you're asking for a suggestion that's realistic, then no, definitely not. Right now you will want to use the Tornado Axe because of the cooldown reduction, and you can stack a lot of axe tornado damage from other sources, so the diminishing returns hit hard. 

 

Let's put the weapon's atk value discrepancy aside and just assume you can stack enough atk from other sources so the two come out to be the same (this is, IMO, unrealistic, but even if we assume this to be the case...)

 

So if you are using 2x Arquien's necklace (+116%) and a +12 driver band (+120%) you're at 236% axe tornado damage. 

 

And if you are using a tornado axe, you can put 1 howard in it, so that's another 60 for a total of 296% axe tornado damage. 

 

If you go the orcish axe route, you get another 100%.... but you have a 2 second cool down. 

 

So which is better, 296% every 1 second, or 396% every 2 seconds?

 

That's not even factoring in the atk difference, the fact that you can get more axe tornado damage from other sources (higher refine on driver band, the supplemental combo), or the cost of the extra true howard cards. 

 

Anyway, long story short, use the tornado axe.

That was a really helpful breakdown of the situation. The way you explained it, mild, reminded me of the time someone helped me with an economic/math problem I was having troubles with in college. This was on Reddit and they explained every step of the problem to me and answered my follow up questions. Sometimes thinking about this stuff gets me confused and I'm somewhat slow at math. I'm just so glad there are so many helpful people on the internet. Thank you guys for being so helpful on the forums :D

True Howard cards will lost 1/3 of their damage because Orcish Axe isn't level 4 weapon.

Oh yeah, so it's even worse. 

 

Dunno why I thought it was a level 4 weapon. Derp. 

 

In the future there's the illusion war axe but even that, tbh, doesn't look all that great for axe tornado (maybe for axe boomerang tho), because of that cooldown issue. 

 

Even with additional cooldown reduction from other sources (I think the class costume enchant) you'll still want the tornado axe so you can spam it at ASPD, which will increase the total damage a metric ton. 

 

though for leveling as long as you can one-shot it probably doesn't matter what you use.

140% natural Axe-Boom damage is pretty hefty, and if the Vicious Mind style weapon enchants land on the illusion axe, it could be even more interesting with a ranged damage mod. Also, one handed ;D 

 

Though with the Syren enchant on the Golden Wrench, that's another 5% axe-boom damage per 3 refine. At +12 it's going to be 55%, and it does have higher weight and atk, though my guess is that's too big of a discrepancy in the skill mod to overcome.

I think Golden Wrench mainly for Power Swing build.

 

 

Currently hybrid axe mecha is meta in KRO after mado can receive bs/ms buff.

 BTW They have Ruff Officer instead.

That might beat out driver band for AT damage, though for axe-boom I think spammability wins out in the end (like most things). 

 

I wish it didn't have the stupid furry ears tho.

Yeah, imagine that damage at ASPD rate. Holy crap  :p_idea: I'm currently using an Axe Boom set for leveling/MVPing and it's already nuts with 1% of that damage XD
