I was wondering if someone can clear something up for me, Does the Taffy Card 1% affect total ATK or just Base ATK?  because i figure the minute you pass 2100 ATK, it would be better than the Golden Scaraba Card.

 

Can someone clear it up for me?

It applies to weapon atk (base weapon, str bonus on it, and refine) and also equip atk (this includes gear, cards, and some skills like shield spell or pyroclastic). 

 

Realistically speaking, you're gonna have a very difficult time getting 1% to beat 20 flat atk unless you meet the values posted above for combined 'hard atk' (weapon/equip/buff).

2000+ atk after proper race, size, type, element, etc bonus are applied.

also to keep in mind atk% will have diminishing returns if you already have some of it or boss%.

It's more of a case by case thing, but heavily in favour of the g.scaraba nonetheless

Speaking from a user of already very high weap atk(lindy hop), G.scaraba usually wins except for the newer options.

 

These include:

 

-Cowraider combo (even just one side with the 4% atk is better than G.scarab, but only for my case)

-Gigantes card (gigant+ just cowraider 4% atk is the strongest for now)

 

Later on when new illusion comes out, there's also illusion heater for crit. Unfortunately, cowraider don't work now and gigant card is hard as hell to farm. So basically nothing better than G.scaraba for dmg atm.

TBH, OP, if you're rolling a ton of attack, the difference of a gold scaraba or 1% isn't going to be noticeable (and will easily be washed out by weapon refine variance alone), so unless you're wealthy and can afford to pay a premium for marginal damage gain, I wouldn't really worry about it much and just go with whatever you have. 

 

Though I suppose 'theory crafting a build' is itself an activity that some enjoy.
