First off, "Icefall" makes no sense, period. Ice does not "fall" unless its been in icicle form and the weight is too heavy and then poof it falls to the ground.

I see that before hitting the server, the dress was actually named Ice Prison Dress, which would've been more fitting considering the fact that you'd be more capable of actually building a prison made out of ice and locking someone inside. Im pretty sure there have been a few animes where 'Ice Prison' was actually a skill name as well (thinking of early naruto here i guess) in which an enemy gets trapped in some form of ice structure.

However, even Ice Prison is sort of a bust. I propose changing the name to Snowfall Dress, since snow actually does fall. Not to mention it sounds cooler, and also there was once an article of clothing from a company called ayyawear that actually had a version of one of their vests called "Snowfall Edition Yang Vest" which looked like this:

Please support my proposal to change the name. Snowfall Dress is much more appropriate and sounds better too.

+1 for the random idea I think they stuck with that name Icefall Dress, because the item description "A blue dress made from icy rivers. It is said it contains powers to create ice that cannot be melted for eternity." If you want to take it further and change to snowfall dress you would need a new description.

The direct translation for the item's name is Ice Jail Dress, in which could be used instead but for this one they went for the Resource Name (Icefall_Dress).

With that's aside, changing name of an item can be done on the fly but it is done on case by case basis.

Many of OCP items just use the name of their image file which some of them don't match its display name.

Such as Fenrir Chain which its name actually is "Hrodvitnir's Chain" (フローズヴィトニルの鎖) or Fallen Warrior Armor which its name actually is"Einherjar's Armor" (アインヘリヤルの鎧)

i remember medical scrubs were changed from something like holy robe? holy coat? something that got confused with the actual holy robe rather easily. i just feel like "icefall' isnt up to par with the title of that item. i'd really like to see it changed to snowfall, but if thats too out of the blue then reverting back to Ice Prison is fitting too since it wouldnt need that description change.

An icefall is a portion of certain glaciers characterized by rapid flow and a chaotic crevassed surface. The term icefall is formed by analogy with the word waterfall, a similar, but much higher speed, phenomenon. When ice movement is faster than elsewhere, because the glacier bed steepens or narrows, the flow cannot be accommodated by plastic deformation and the ice fractures, forming crevasses. Where two fractures meet, seracs (ice towers) can be formed. When the movement of the ice slows down, the crevasses can coalesce, resulting in the surface of the glacier becoming smoother.

as for that wiki description, i can almost guarantee that not a single person who bothered responding/reading this thread even knew that such a thing was a thing lmao, posters included. ya'll know you're just trying to one-up me with that technical description and had no idea what it even was yourselves until you read it

Plus, I think Icefall sounds pretty dope. Not everything needs to make sense.
