Let me first say that this is going to be my first foray into upgrading gear past +4. After reading iRO Wiki's article on refinement, I've deduced that Blacksmith Blessings and Safe Ceriticates are safer and more practicable than HD Oridecon and Elunium. Correct me if I'm wrong.

 

With that said, this is my question. If I have plenty of Blacksmith Blessings and Safe Certificates and I continue to upgrade the gear without interruption (not stopping to buy more Blacksmith Blessings and Safe Certificates), will that cause my chances of successfully upgrading the gear be higher than if I intermittently upgrade the gear (stopping in the middle of the upgrading process to buy more Blacksmith Blessings and Safe Certificates)? Do you get what I want to ask?

It doesn't matter.

Plenty of ppl will have their own surpestitions about how to refine, or whatever hidden black magic there is on the system, but it's just rng, and every attempt has the same static chance regardless as to when you do them.

It's like when you go to a casino, if you're on a win streak you keep going, if you're failing miserably you stop and try it again at another time. Everyone has their beliefs about the refine system, but in the end like that you can at the very least preserve your mental health.

Random and unpredictable. In refining, set a certain budget limit and always expect to fail so that it won't take you so hard if it really fails during refinement. They call it reverse psychology.

Bring alot of upgrading material and yolo it at once. Spare yourself the what ifs lol.

Good/Bad luck do happen, just try to limit yourself when your upgrading especially if you have limited resources. Never force an upgrade when you have 3-5 stones left, you'll never know what will happen.

This. I've successfully refined several armors/lvl. 4 weapons to +14 and several lvl. 3 weapons to +15. But as long as you are OK with failing, then it's fine. It's not for the faint of heart or those short on funds.
