Will the storage slots be retained or will they be gone along with the items that are placed in them?
What happens to additional VIP storage slots when VIP expires?

all you itens that you put on it stay there you just can't acess it.

Kafra Card can always access all storage regardless of VIP status. There used to be some NPC that allowed it, Mail Annex I wanna say? But IIRC there are no NPCs that grant special access to VIP storage now.
