Hey guys, I actually haven't played RO in a while, on and off for over 10 yrs.. But I had a convo with a friend and remembered this old video I watched of a guy who did a little bit of a VR project on this game, and it looks freakin amazing, to imagine this game fully working in VR just makes me excited to think about. I know there's probably things that make it hard to be a reality like it normally works by using a bunch of keyboard hotkeys.. But just see how the dude just swipes items out and everything just with the hand controls, so kewl, and to imagine something like this online, even if it takes years of development, I would love to see it become a reality, I'd get extra hooked xd warp portal/gravity need to see this video and see what they think about it, like I said I haven't played RO in a while, I just thought I'd come to the suggestion section in the forums cuz I'd love to see this

I like this as a proof of concept, but VR tech is a looong way from making a complete game of RO's depth; especially a multiplayer one. Doing a bare bones classic version of RO with swordsman, acolyte, thief, mage, merchant, and archer up to level 50/50 would be a good start. In terms of versions and content, I could see prontera/izlude/morroc/geffen/alberta/payon with the maps connecting them and a dungeon for each of them. Of course, I wouldn't start that way. I'd start with prontera, 1 map left and the culvert dungeon. The problem is that you would have to redo all of the graphics to reduce seizures and the side effects that VR inherently causes. You would basically be starting from scratch.

TLDR;

The tech isn't quite there yet.

PS: I don't know if the RO community would be able to get behind this tbh. One of RO's selling point is the ability to play it on anything nowadays. Its age is a good part of its international appeal (or so I hear). That said, if VR does move into mmos, then older games will probably perform better first. The last problem with VR is the requirement for special hardware that isn't mainstream yet, even in the US.
