  1. How do I get the quest for first aid?
  2. What is the academy, and where are the training grounds?
  3. How do you turn off the water effect? Laggy!
  4. What is a GM running around as a monster??
  5. Where is the panel for hot keying my skills?

Things have changed... A lot. These are the things that are on my mind right now. If anyone can answer them, I would thank you tons. :)

I can help with some questions.
1. I believe the first aid quest is north izlude. There's a npc novice or something just outside the academy. They changed it up from back in the day. At the academy you can learn about jobs kafras etc. When you want to change to first job you go there as well.

4. The GM monsters are for the jakk event. If you kill them they drop jakks presents which can be used for various things. They can hit pretty hard when you are low level.

5. F12 to shows hotkey bar

When I try this, it turns my Labtop's airplane mode on and off. Same thing goes for the insert button. Only it prints my screen instead. Can I reassign these keys or what do I do?

You should be able to reassign keys in the shortcut configuration from escape menu

For the answers:

  1. There's an NPC inside "the academy" southwest of the first floor. I think the NPC name is "Therapist" if I'm not wrong.
  2. When you just create a character, immediately speak to the moose NPC and READ CAREFULLY EACH AND EVERY TUTORIALS without skipping anything given by the NPCs. That way, you will be guided on how the academy, or RO in general, works.
  3. You cannot turn off water effects in the rivers and other waters in maps, and only the water effects that cannot disabled except for water skills, as far as I know. But you can turn off other effects like fog and shake by typing "/effect". Doing this however will also make all skills don't have an animation and you cannot also see enemy skills. You can individually disable the effects by pressing ALT+Y.
  4. That's an event monster. Do not attack the pink one when you are below 100 and don't have any elemental attacks. I died many times using a low level character because I'm too confident. :heh:
  5. Since you used a laptop, hold the blue "Fn" key before pressing F12, or even F1 to F11. This is true to all functions, not just in iRO or games in general.

Can I disable the fn key? Or is that something I'm just going to have to get used to?

It depends on your laptop. And since it is a tedious process to change the Fn function settings (if possible), I suggest to (Google) search on how to do it instead. It involves modifying the settings of the BIOS itself and even I can't help you how to, sadly.
