RO Transcendence: Remove Fixed Cast Times

The renewal cast time formulas are made for level 150 3rd classes which have way more stats, Sacrament (50% fixed cast time reduction), as well as the addition of gear that reduces cast time.

Anyone who has played at level 99 pre-renewal and level 99 post-renewal will agree with this.


I've been playing RO since 2005. I do not agree with this. Please stop making assumptions about other players' preferences, Aaron.

Also, reading this thread makes me wonder how many people have looked into the impending class balancing. The vast majority of changes involve both damage increases, and significant decreases to cast time and delays, mostly for non trans skills. As a Wizard main, I have no real issues with cast times, and look forward to trying out JT spamming mid-stormgust.

with magic strings been useless, what can a bard be used for? most of the jobs are actually worthless

Fixed Cast times aren't the end of the world for me, but some of them are rather punishing currently. I'm ok with some of the ones with trans in the future though. biochems having a fixed cast time would be a nice way to balance them, especially since their damage in renewal is actually insane compared to classic. I recall seeing guilds wiped by a single biochem. sometimes two, but none the less the bombs could one shot people often times. Was a very awful meta to play in. 

 

I personally wouldn't mind getting some answers to fixed cast time in the form of enchants and gears. If the server implements renewal instances/content while not implementing 3rd classes in the future, then I think the fixed cast times won't be an issue then. Temporal boots for example would remove 0.5 seconds of fixed cast time by themselves. 

If we do not plan to add any way to reducing fixed cast times, I think we should remove most if not all of them.

with wizard heavily nerfed on the damage, i dnt see a reason why they should put fct. people saying theres suff/strings, heres a fact, they do not reduce fct. isnt chaos dead? i went and check it has 200 players lol

they are saying that strings exists to point out how stupid it'd be with fixed cast just flat out removed, even if the variable cast formula remained the same.

Well, i like it... makes battle sage meant to do that, battle magicians and destroy them! cast cancel, spell breaker, etc... are useless in insta cast games... why even have them in the game then? fixed cast time makes them do something besides just casting the aoe anti aoe spell... and I LIKE IT

I fail to see how removing fixed cast time would be stupid. It worked on restart, aka revo classic. and would essentially make this a revo classic style server with future zero settings. which would be fine imo.

 

currently there is no way to reduce fixed cast time and there usually is in renewal to at least 50%. 

 

the bare minimum imo is to reduce to 50% since everyone uses sacrament in renewal and it just won't exist here.

looks like you haven't played wizard .. 99dex in pre renewal is almost less than second for casting stormgust

while here?? 99int/dex + suffra + magic string is like 10years..  you're already dead before you finish casting.. adding vit wont help you to survive much since vit doesnt scale much for mage classes

I main wizard on ROT and haven't died yet. Not due to cast times, anyway. Perhaps WoE is different, but for now it's fine.
