I figured this was a good opportunity to try and solve the mystery of the quest, after it's been 5 years or so that this has not been fixed yet.

So after talking to the strange dead body and selecting yes and reading through it all(though you can do it again after), I did the following:

Backtracked to the first floor.

Went to every location

-202, 25
-190, 160
-164, 53
-133, 183
-139, 257

Did the following:

-Wait there on each one for 10 minutes

-Wait until two hide animations play then a reveal animation play

-Walked around the dungeon to each location until hide animation plays

-Kept walking on it, triggering multiple hide animations.

No dialog box pops up at all. When I go back to the chief, still no indication of finding at least one sword.

So using fanmade guide for Chief's Quest, can you please point at the step you are having the issue with? It would greatly help.
Here's the link to the guide:

Step 7 at Level 1, all listed coordinates. Nothing pops up. Thank you :)

Each spot has a random chance of giving you a sword piece, so you just got unlucky. You should visit all 15 spots to increase your chances.

Will give that a shot. At first I thought you had to find one in each level.
Edit: Now nothing shows up at each location...not even an animation
Edit 2: First floor and Second floor checked. Nothing

It took me roughly 2 months to finish this quest because of the RNG. kRO LOVES adding RNG into the game when they can.

Third floor checked. Well...I know it's a possibility, but I think it should be tweaked a bit.

I was even following the script to try and solve it.

Out of curiosity, how random was it? Did you visit all the spots more than once?

I think I averaged 10-15 times for each of the 15 spots. Could have been more given that I did it casually over the course of 2 months, so your mileage will vary.

When I talked to iRO Support about this, I was recommended to check each spot for at least 13 seconds for the quest to properly flag the check.

Overall, the quest can be finished, but the amount of RNG really hinders any motivation to finish the darn thing.
