Anyone know if there is any supported way to force RO to use my gaming laptop's 1050ti instead of the Intel igpu? Frankly the igou isn't enough in prontera etc with lots of venders, it's just a stuttery eye destroying head ache inducing mess. It's complete unplayable if I have anything else using the igpu as well like a video/stream in waterfox, or a media player when I drag along a second monitor, or just want to vend in the background while doing work.

For some reason, this is an old and known problem when using dedicated graphic cards...  There is a tutorial on RMS forums, but we can't post their links here, so google it

 

But keep in mind that this game is old, so you won't get much from using a better graphic card to play it.

Try to search for the command to activate Vsync, that solved it for me on one sv

It doesn't give you the option to use the dedicated gpu, only the Intel igpu.  RO ignores all intel, Nvidia, and windows setting trying to force it to use only the dedicated gpu. All the other setup.exe options just make the game look poor, they don't really help with the visual lag/low fps in prontera.

Sadly everything I've seen uses Voodoo dlls that makes RO think a Voodoo card is installed, which most anti-cheats won't let you run. My machine at home with a AMD rx 480 runs the game smooth with out fps drops in Prontera, so making the game use a dedicated card will at least help with that.

i suffer from this too
my laptop has a 970m from nvidia that i cant seem to use
it doesnt show up on the graphic settings on RO setup, only direct hall or intel iGPU
that's a game killer for me and haven't found any fix on how to force it to use the dedicated GPU

I remember seeing a few reports about this, and they all came from users with laptops.

Google search suggests adjusting the power settings of the dedicated gpu through the gpu gui panel, and or setting it to be the default instead of the integrated. It was also mentioned updating or downgrading the driver fix the issue.

Each brand will have its own setting so check the most appropriate for your card.

RO doesnt play nice with newer GPUs, and EAC effectivelly blocks most voodoo dlls from working either. There's no win on thie

There are some fps commands and vsync but I think admins have to enable them

Sadly means I'll just have to not play when on my laptop, Prontera just a slide show at this point, outside Prontera is fine but no point in play if you can't visit the main market of the game. Wish gravity would update their engine to recognize modern laptop since nearly all of them have igpu+dedicated gpu setups.

Hmm disable shops let it run like normal but defeats the point of visiting prontera for the shops. Can at least use shopping board to search for specific items but can't browse to see what people are selling. Wish Gravity would just make their own "voodoo" dlls and include them for those with issues so the anti-cheat wouldn't have a problem with it.

 

Does let me know never to buy a Intel/Nvidia based gaming laptop again, at least AMD APU's build in graphics is a hell lot better then Intels and wouldn't have this issue.
