I know this is way over the top of iRO's jurisdiction, but... What if we make low tier items somewhat useful? Even if it's for a starting character.
Suppose the "Poring Card" would give you a bonus against the Poporing monster and the "Poporing Card" would give you a bonus against some other higher level monster? You could build items specifically to train low level characters instead of having the "Skip Jump Level Event" and the items would not be literally trash.
Second sugestion, there are a lot of equipments low and mid level tier that sell for 10z. You can put them on the market, but there are much more items being dropped than new low/mid level players. If the price is not high enough, they'll be just thrown away. And even the low/mid level players won't be able to buy them on the market, because nobody will bother to sell. What if there were an NPC who traded any dropped equipment for a prize? Or an NPC who upgraded items with no cost, but whit a high chance of breaking. This would not be worth for a high tier item. But still, what if I have gathered 200 low tier equipments? Instead of throwing them away I could try to make a +10 whatever (with no cost) and sell it, and it would be useful to someone.
