I can see that what little came out of ocp for mechanics specifically is completely geared toward axe tornado. Is HSCR dead? What do people use for end game mechanic skills? Surely not flame launcher. Is mechanic basically reliant on axe tornado now, and are the only gears that buff axe tornado the work cap?

I don't think people use hscr to level anymore. It's either axe tornado or arm Cannon. I believe you need the mado suit for arm Cannon?
You can boost arm cannon damage with Rick step cards. And get ACD gear to help spam.

+10 axe tornado with the true howard card.
+10 work cap
2 x arquien neck
Supplement part str or +13 abusive str 6 (recomend)
Supplement part con or valk manteu of power
Tengu set or coronet set

With the above set, i can 1 hit bigbell

they fundamentaly serve different purposes, although you certainly could use tornado for single target if you wanted to.

and let's not forget, people have a tendency of picking a playstyle of pressing only 1 button rather than using multiple skills :v

Switch abyss/nature dress for corresponding MVPs and you should be good. Or just use those gears and start dropping mvps.

Tornado build mvping mid level mvp just fine, although some mvp hit like a truck due to this build has no shield for extra protection and damage reduction from it.
It is also quite annoying to deal with mobs with knockback (raydric archer for example), although it can be easily switch to no knockback armor.
The other thing about the tornado build is you have to constantly self buff yourself with 7 different skills i think, such as crazy upraor, advance adrenalin, Shatter, etc.

I feel like I used to kill almost any MVP in 2014 with HSCR. I'll try tornado again- I have a +14 HF somewhere, but it seems a shame to leave my over upgraded pile bunker to collect dust. I had a woe build for attack speed and SD so maybe it's time to restat

Which ocps specifically? I've got abusive robe with tao, GTB with excelion, DR with etran...not sure what room is left for ocp mech gears. Jupiter ring, temporal ring, blacksmith glove, perverse demon mask, work hat, pharaoh sun glasses and mob scarf. What am I missing??

I figure I'll wait for 17.1 for the illusion axe one handed [2] and use my pile bunker HSCR build for now

Supplemental Chip, basically pair of Kiel card effects on both of your accessory slots.

 

Rockstep Cards also pretty dirty cheap right now due to Multiple Turn-Ins Spawn (Normally you can only find it on Charleston Crisis Instance)

you can still use Orcish axe [4] a little lower damage compared to two handed axes but the 4 slot makes up for it

 

im still one of those old classic style player, i still prefer HSCP over mado gears, if it wasnt for the level limit of whitesmith, i will not even go for 3rd class mechanic

i find axe boomerang really fun.

although the damage is much lower w/o double dip dress & 100% def bypass

well whenever we get that stupid illusion turtle update, axe boomerang should be pretty viable even without the dress. 140% axe boomerang boost while being 1handed and then you still have 2 slots for WK cards or step card
