It would be interesting to make the Rank Alchemist and Blacksmith a competitive scenario within the game. Take this idea to an internal discussion and study the possibility of introducing a rank reset every month.

this is why things should be released in advance for testing... because those charts make forged weapons way too strong - people are already doing insane damage and this will increase it

 

edit: not as overpowered as I first thought

I stripped out all the def bypass stuff because that would have been way too OP for this stage of the server.

@Camptor So I was wondering if there was any progress on size damage modifiers (+% to small/medium/large targets) for options on weapons? I remember quite some time ago when the second option was added there was some issue with it working properly so it was removed before implementing, but have not heard anything at all in relation to this, it would be rather nice to be able to acquire these options as well.

We really need higher level fever field maps. 99's shouldn't be running around 1 shotting orcs with 2k hp.

you don't want this. will be genuinely -_- broken if you can get 50% neutral, 50% player, and 20% ranged dmg. Snipers + Chems in the future would be more broken than they are already likely to be. 

Biochems one shot you on restart, I'd imagine with gear like that and zero changes they will be ridiculous.

Yep. The BS ranking system is horrible, all of the top 10 in this server got there by refining their -_-ty no-element no star-crumb level 3 weapons to +10 with the help of HD oris. How about a ranking where crafting weapons is the main factor towards your rank instead of how much you spend on the cash shop?

 

The alchemist rank isn't much better but at least you have to actually sell your cash shop items into zeny and spend hours brewing (or bot...) instead of directly P2Wing your way to the top.

I think Alchemist and Blacksmith rank resets should be looked into (not anytime soon) but lets say 4 months from now and every 6 months after. If there are never rank resets it discourages anyone joining the server late from ever trying or having a chance. These resets need to be set long in advance and not surprise people.

resetting wont help, top5 will always be top5 as long as they still playing or not needing new wpns.

The difference between (2) options on a BS weapon versus (3) or (4) for ranked Blacksmiths is immense. Literally, the only motivation for non-ranked Blacksmiths to forge with this system will be to make weapons for your own characters. They will not sell.

That's why a redefinition of rank is important to keep people motivated.

Usually when something like this is involved a "seasonal" aspect is implemented in regards to ranked forging reset conversation, a set time each time a new season begins

That's pretty standard.

 

The difference between ranked and unranked alchemists is 50% effectiveness.

 

The difference between ranked and unranked TKs on older servers is literally like playing a different class.

 

The difference between ranked and unranked smithed weapons is now actually significant, but it's a significant boost in effectiveness for unranked Blacksmiths at the same time, so as far as I can tell it's just put Blacksmiths in line with all the other ranking trees. I'd love to get those four options on weapons from my unranked smith too, but there aren't that many ways you can make the ranking actually meaningful.

 

The way Blacksmith rank points are gained could take some looking at, since HD ores have completely upended the concept behind the original table. For the foreseeable future though, good luck trying to get 4 perfect rolls instead of 2 rankers!
