BUILD

hi, i need some advice in this build, especially with the DNA's. ATM i'm lvl 45.
I maxed beam slash, considering it by pass defence. my question is if it's worth max onslaught (i need 12 skill points for that, so i remove 9 points from beam slash, 1 from chain slash, 1 from promise of victory and 1 from taunting cry). Is better beam slash or onslaught?? D:..

thx for the help

don't take onslaught unless you plan to make lvl 65 foc twink.

beamslash is better.

what is your plan? pvp? pve? it looks kind of hybrid atm leaning towards pvp, cos you wont be able to hold agro in pve with lvl 1 taunts

drop chain slash to lvl 1.

for pvp drop taunts and those 3 points into shield strike

for more pve/hybrid build drop beam slash to lvl 1 and max taunting cry

and those 2 points into shield strike cos at lvl 5 it will miss a lot imo.

It really depends what your ultimate goal and specialisation will be. There are certain differences between PvE and PvP, or somewhere in between, kind of hybrid situation. I agree with most of the advice Famous provided.

Personally, I always thought Onslaught is a waste to spend points in. As a skill it isnt too bad, but a Commander has already several other better skills to use. I dont even think it is necessary to squeeze one Onslaught between the other attack skills, they dont have very long cooldowns (especially Boomerang) anyway. I would rather spend more points on Beam Slash, if I had to. Perhaps the additional damage does not improve in a spectacular manner, however since it ignores defence it makes a difference, especially on critical hits. Again, for mostly PvE adding many points in Beam Slash doesnt mean much, you would be better off with some improved Chain Slash (aoe one).

For PvE, and really only if you are going to do some serious tanking, you will definately need taunts. It all depends on the overall damage capacity, but it is possible to manage even with Taunting Cry at lvl 6 and simple Taunt at just lvl 1.

As for Shield Strike, I never take it further than lvl 6. The bit of extra % of success means very little. It all really depends on the level difference between you and the opponent (either mob or character). Now, with the increased rate of success for melee classes, like other skills it will work better when level difference is favourable. If not, it will mostly fail like it always did.

And a final word: dont underestimate your defence, the relevant skills and DNA. Try to spend as much as you can comfortably afford on those, they DO help.
