I find it impossible for new players to play through this dragon saga evolved update, i get the idea of making the boss tanky for prolonged gameplay, but the boss now hit too hard, and im talking about mission map bosses, i have tried creating a new char just to try out this update and i get 3 hit Koed by the boss. With the groggy removed and the mission map bosses wont be mini stunned, some of the jobs cant get through it solo, what will happen to solo players? At least nerf the boss dmg, or return the mini-stun effect to bosses and the groggy, so that it is more playable and enjoyable...

If you don't like just don't play the game "replies of support in discord". To be honest it's too hard even with full gear and atk type and they don't have plans in changing it. Even other players in PT mission map are asking for higher damage before they accept you, it's like in the past other official server which requires that you have bean before you can join their PT. Try to farm in element so you can decide if you want to continue the game :)

To be honest i am just trying to state that the changes are a bit too much, i don't have plans of quitting this game, still want to play it, just hope that they can make a little bit nerf to those new bosses, by their dmg dealt i mean. Some of the jobs are quite useless now, for instance i played as a knight, and during boss fights i just feel useless while seeing my ninja friend carry me...

Hello everyone,

I’m not one who generally expresses their opinion openly. However, given the number of players whom I’ve known to view the “Evolve” update unfavourably. I’ll like to share my opinion.

Firstly, prior to the update, in terms of difficulty, the game felt considerably easy favouring x-spam classes in end-game dungeons (i.e. Elga and Dungeon of Destiny) while levelling and expert dungeons favour more skill-spam oriented classes. In terms of levelling, irrespective of class, a casual player would be able to achieve level 85 quite easily through weekend exp events and stackable exp-boosting items while repeating expert dungeons.

After this update, the game became exponentially difficult. The official patch notes states “the goal of the update is to balance the game, close the gap between op and non-op classes….and make the game enjoyable”. Whilst I agree that the game was fairly easy favouring certain x-spam classes in the endgame and that a balance to those classes was required. This patch outright shifted the balance to the other side – classes with low cooldown skills that can be cycled became very favoured in end-game dungeons whilst certain x-spam classes became utterly useless in terms of damage. Currently, skill-spam classes favoured more considerably both in terms of expert dungeons AND end-game dungeons. Classes in the summoner line, monk line, and the archer line has become sufficiently impaired by this patch to an extent where players are discouraged from playing these classes. Players who I know have either quit Dragon Saga or transitioned to playing a more favourable class because of this patch.

I do not believe, along with a significant number of players I have casually talked to, this patch has made the “game enjoyable”, in fact I argue the opposite. The easy-going game prior to the patch made casual players able to achieve sufficient progress over time without much struggles which is one of the few benefits of the game. Now with levelling more difficult, deaths more likely, discouragement of certain classes, and long end-game dungeons with low drop rates, I do not feel the goal of this patch has been achieved. Some say this has made the game more challenging and encourages parties, however with the effects of COVID-19 on games and online entertainment slowly dying down as society attempts to return to normalcy, parties will eventually be difficult to come by, and players will be faced with the challenge of finding a party and an uphill grind against ridiculously high HP bosses (or by over-coming this hurdle by asking for “help” from higher level/better-geared players – but with this, are players even “playing” the game?).

I would like to finish with a side-note, this is just my opinion. This is based of my observations and anecdotal evidence.

Regards,

A player whom has played on the official IAH server since 2009 until closure and has played this server for over 2 years.
