creepiest sound is yoyo, just like a baby cooing when it dies.

most annoying sound is muka, i have the noise turned off since.

probably anubis for best design.

Skogul

If we're counting Homunculus 2's, then obviously it would be me.

i think evil druid was designed pretty well. it looks like a monster with a really interesting backstory. so does the wraith, for that matter. a massive, sailing specter, enveloped in swirling black robes with a massive pair of bleeding jaws bulging from the chest of it's cloak. pretty crazy.

Do you mean in terms of looks or in terms of skillset etc? I do like Baphomet in both fields though.

A lot of monster designs in RO are very clever.

For some reason though, I like the thanatos monsters, moonlight flower and Gloom under night. A lot of the shapeshifting monsters really have nice animation too.

Evil Snake Lord: He's creepy and reminds me a giant sperm at times, but his overall design is awesome!

&

Phreeoni: Seriously! What were they smoking? He creeps me out so hard... and then he licks you!

Honorable Mention: Keil-D (Love the story) & Samurai Spectre (Don't know the story, but he wooped my bum at ET :D)

I just did MVPs because I'm lazy. But my overall favorite monsters are Baby Hatii & Dolor of Thanatos :D

Isn't that supposed to be a bad thing?

Also, Odium of Thanatos is the best monster ever.

There was a "but" after that  When I first saw him as a tiny first class character I was like "OH NOES THE SPERM MONSTER KILLED ME!", but looking at the character design he's pretty cool...

I'm done talking about him though cause this is a cute post and I don't want it to get locked because the design team caters to perverts :D

I always had a soft spot to the sheer wackiness (and sad backstory) of Magnolia:

backstory? monsters in RO have backstories? I am interested...I've often wondered what is the story behind a lot of monsters in RO, even just the MVPs.

Some of these you find out in the towns, Payon has NPCs with a little bit of dialog (if I am remembering correctly)about the sad tale of Bongun and Munak and how they became angry spirits.

I know the bogun/munak story. But I've often wondered about other monsters, such as Vanberk/Isilla, Moonlight Flower, Deviace, Pharaoh etc.

I'm the sort of guy who loves to read up on in-game lore. There's a fair bit of that in Ragnarok, but it's mostly centered about the main story. I wish there was some sort of deeper backstory to the monsters in the game, at least the MVPs. Some of them like Ktullanux have pretty cool backstories, but others are just 'there'.

It's a little counter-productive that such focus is put on grinding these monsters without even understanding why we're fighting them in the first place.

"Because they're trying to kill me" was always satisfactory reason for me.

Hellion revenant before renewal was my favorite monster... a nice story, a rewarding quest, a cool dark priest idea/dessign, really hard to kill as a 7x nontrans chara (then trans came out but he was still a decent monster)... sadly, in renewal when we did the quest, I was like, "I'll firewall it first" then he died to the first firewall and noother attack
