I've started doing Sky Fortress instances with my GX to farm vicious mind weapons and found that I could probably take the boss there and maybe get a JDR drop. The major problem, however is the EQ phase. I've watched several videos with what appears to be a safe spot strat behind the throne, but when I try to do, I end up getting smacked regardless. Is there a VERY specific spot I have to stand or did the instance get some kind of nerf so that it doesn't work anymore?

i think there are very specifics spots in order to don't get EQ. Btw you could you use Hallucination walk.

I use Hallucination Walk and still get hit with it but that could be attributed to the jank gear I use since it's a very incomplete MA build with nothing but the Enforcers and a Thanatos/Rideword combo to keep my hp topped.

there's is no 100% safe spot in his eq phase. the eq are random iirc.

 

dunno the exact range of his EQ, but when you see the purple aura, move away from it. the eq will start from there and hit within range.

 

you just need to move away and you should be safe. the problem is its very hard to know the center of that range. i usually just try to move away from all eq spots as possible. trying to center myself between the multiple eq spots.

You are not killing it fast and you are killing it too slow, you need to find the in between to avoid the EQ.

What I used to do to avoid the EQ is to MA 5 times then use dark claw and MA til its death.

Because. Back in the days, we used to take really long to kill, wear all the HIT equipment w.o phreeoni wing, spamming RC.

We would lure it to the corner behind the tomb or to the stairs to avoid some of those zombie spawns & hope that the earthquake doesn't proc there. if it does. Then we'll spend a token a two.

With MA now, don't bother wasting time, luring

It's not Eathquake, it's just a scripted "you die" if you don't leave the zone. It doesn't deal damage, it isn't a skill, it will just kill your character if you stay there.

There's no 100% safe spot, but what you can do is pick an area with less interference(say corners) and you won't have to deal with zombies when they spawn, and have to pay attention to less of the map to notice the Death circles. You can avoid it by just walking out of the area, or if you die to it, you can ressurrect yourself and not leave that spot, as the mechanic won't kill you in the same area, unless you leave that spot.

Lastly, he only triggers his EQ phase in the last 25% of his health, and it will take about 13 seconds from the moment the mechanic starts to when they start spawning(it can take extra time if he's still executing a previous mechanic). So you can save your class burst to the final moments to bypass it.

The spot behind on either side that we used to lure to, gives us a chance to avoid the first 'EQ', we might get hit by the 2nd or 3rd EQ.

 

Calculate your DPS and you should kill it before the 2nd wave of 'EQ' comes.

 

But that was the old days, these days just MA and kill it ASAP. If you can't , then follow the ways of the old, and bring tokens just for backup. 

 

An important thing to note that if you die due to 'EQ', dont move from that same cell. EQ won't kill you if you stay at the same spot.

Save 10 tokens the day before you sky fort, wait for token cd to expire, then start sky fortess! 20 tokens is a good amount to start!

Just go to /where 117/109 and stay there till hes dead. Never failed for me.

well , if you are filthy rich , use gtb xD if not use ghostring , it reduces the damage of EQ . Or kill it fast enough that it wont EQ. I usually kill it with my oboro very fast with petal spam xD

GTB does not block the EQ from Sky Fortress, that EQ is from an NPC and not from the MVP, therefore is not considered a magic attack like the EQ from Ifrit/Valky/Baphomet/Orc Lord.

The earthquake from skyfortress is just a visual. Nothing will stop from killing you if you are stepping on it. If you have enough damage, you can kill it without initiating the death spots sequence.
