I believe this weapon will be BIS for years. Now to wait for Class Enchant Stones for reduce AT cooldown.. but this is a great start for Physical Mechanics.

Work Cap: 100%
Arquiens x2: 116%
Illusion Axe: 140%
True Howard x2: 120%
Total AT%: 476%
 
Vs
 
Work Cap: 100%
Arqueins x2: 116%
Tornado Axe: 0%
True Howard x1: 60%
Total AT%: 276%
 
Now I don't know how math works because I got a B in Algebra II like 10 years ago and thats as far as I got buuuuuuut:
276 is ~58% of 476 so for AT you gain ~42% damage by adding 200% AT% Mod at the cost of doubling your re-use delay. Which is only a factor on stuff you don't 1 shot. 2 second re-use isn't too bad to begin with, but at this point I am kind of getting tired of seeing AT% Stacking. To be fair I think Illusion War Axe existed first, but we just got it last. It would have been really exciting if we had gotten the axe before all the OCP. Its actually probably a good idea to ditch an arquiens for something else, maybe temp ring. So War Axe is good but If I see any more AT% items coming out I'll be sad. Nearly 500% of a single damage mod is more than sufficient.
 
Of course it is really nice that it is just 1 handed. Getting a shield for additional attack and tankyness is a big plus over the 2h tornado axe.
 
I think for Axe Boomerang the War Axe is inarguably better. Full Merchant Shadow + Blacksmith Glove + Sea Captain + Supplement Dex/Str for full def pierce and no cooldown. Obvious downside is that you can't use the OCP dresses with supplement str combo. But I'm guessing doing 3 booms in the time it takes to do 1 is more worth it over the perfect scenario OCP Dress.

576/376= 53.19% damage increase


1 use per second/0.5 use per second = 100% dps increase

200/153.19= 30.55% overall higher dps

then again, you probably shouldnt be using that much AT boosts anyways, and can certainly swap either cards or accessories for other options.

Oh I haven't read the effect too closely I guess. That seems odd they'd do that. So AB is still awkward. But on a direct weapon-only comparison between Illusion and Bellum Guillotine or Miners Pick it is better. Safe to call it best in slot, though I don't know how "good" that actually is. Would be interested to see someone try AB with it against pretty much any MvP with a decent amount of HP.

 

Just curious if anyone has achieved 1 shot on Ominous Turtles with AT? I didn't find the damage to be that bad with just a deviant, but a shield would be better than no shield if you can one hit KO. Its hard to tell based on the video because of the base level scaling. Seems like there is still a long way to go to hit 600k or even 300k.
