pretty much, not a lot has changed

at worst the damage got halved on targets that had weaknesses to the elemental balls, which means they still get completely destroyed since you were overkilling them by 5x their health already

seraph feather doesnt really do anything for gene, you can put some utility gear there

mostly an acid bomb focused setup may have some new gear considerations since thwre are more methods of dealing with fct now, as well as other raw atk gear

is it worth it to try to get Atk% and Long Range% on the maces?

i have one that's +19% long range and some random enchant, but i was wondering if its worth it to try to get a small % long range and Atk%

Short answer no

Longer answer you are not playing ranger but long atk% is not the best enchant, unless you are using it specially for leveling on illusion abyss the best enchant overall is arguably atk% large%

Even longer answer is not worth investing much on it since being a mace already makes it equal or better than a twin edge ea6 while fighting large monster at -2 refines due to size mod and on year 2042 when we are lvl 200/70 we'll be using the safety saber anyway with the reworked CC so current weapons dont matter

In a vacuum, wouldn't a ranged modifier result in more damage than a size modifier at the same %? Ranged modifier gets applied to the full ATK (StatusATK, WeaponATK, ExtraATK, MasteryATK, BuffATK), while size modifier doesn't get applied to StatusATK and MasteryATK.

Outside a vacuum, though, if the OP already has FAW EA10, another +20% ranged won't add as much damage as +20% size.

yeah, but which is better in each scenario depends on existing bonuses of the same kind and the amount you are getting.

20% ranged in a vaccuum is better than 20% size

if you already have 20% ranged, it is still possibly better because even with the diminishing returns, affecting more parts of your atk may still yield better results.

all of that can be easily checked in compare.irowiki.org

While I don't use the HTM & Brooch combo myself, I'm curious if Range % or Size % would be better for the OP--most likely Range % because of the +51 to StatusATK from +14 HTM & Brooch (+35 STR, +35/5 DEX, +28/3 LUK). I'll play around with compare.irowiki.org to see.

xMLGzus-

What's your level and what are your base stats? What are you wearing for shadow equipment?

I ran some comparisons at compare.irowiki.org. I made the following assumptions:

  • +13 Saphir Hall
    • option 1: 2x Archer Skeleton cards
    • option 2: 2x Abysmal Knight cards
    • option 3: Abysmal Knight, White Knight and Khalitzburg Knight cards
    • First enchant: Atk+15%
    • Second enchant: Varies between Range +20% and Large Size +20%
  • +13 Old Midas Whisper with no card. Enchant: Mettle Lv 4
  • +12 Excelion Shield with no card (except with option 3)
  • +14 Hero Trade Mail with no card
  • Fallen Angel Wings with EA 3/3/4 enchants and Menblatt card
  • +12 Temporal Dex Boots with EA4 and Runaway Magic enchants (no card)
  • Iron Cannon Ball
  • Crazy Uproar buff
  • Lv 150 Dieter and Pyroclastic buff
  • No Eden/food/item buffs
  • Target: White Lady

Results (Average ATK):

2x Archer Skeleton cards

  • ATK+15% only: 4247
    • w/ Range +20%: 4744 - total Ranged modifier is +91%
    • w/ Large Size +20% 4850 (2.23% more than Range +20%)

2x Abysmal Knight cards

  • ATK+15% only: 4669
    • w/ Range +20%: 5288 - total Ranged modifier is +71%
    • w/ Large Size +20% 5385 (1.83% more than Range +20%)

Abysmal Knight, White Knight and Khalitzburg Knight cards

  • ATK+15% only: 5356
    • w/ Range +20%: 6066 (1.3% more than Size +20%)
    • w/ Large Size +20% 5987
  • ATK+15% only w/o Pyroclastic: 4979
    • w/ Range +20%: 5638 (0.5% more than Size +20%)
    • w/ Large Size +20% 5610

Conclusion:

  • Range +20% enchant is better than Large Size +20% enchant, if you have White Knight and Khalitzburg Knight cards
  • Getting either Range +20% or Large Size +20% enchant is fine. If you happen to get either when enchanting along with Atk+15%, just keep it
  • Unless you hunt non-large bosses: If so, Range +20% is better
  • Using 1 million damage per attack as an example:
    • With 2x AS cards against a boss with 46 million HP, you would need 46 attacks with Range +20% vs. 45 attacks with Size +20% to defeat it
      • In other words, you "gain" 1 attack every 45 attacks with Size +20%
    • 2x AK cards and 56 million HP: 56 attacks w/ Range +20% vs. 55 attacks w/ Size +20%
      • You "gain" 1 attack every 55 attacks with Size +20%
    • AK+WK+KK cards and 201 million HP but no Pyroclastic: 200 attacks with Range +20% vs. 201 attacks with Size +20% to defeat it
      • You "gain" 1 attack every 200 attacks with Range +20%
