Hello folks, have been meaning to return to the game after a decade-long hiatus. Last played on an official server some 10 years ago with Renewal mechanics. My favorite part of the game are instance dungeons, at the time I really enjoyed Endless Tower and was practically all I did before I quit.

I heard it's largely solo play now these days but I would still like to do Endless Tower runs (+ the nostalgia trip), and am I thinking of starting over as a Ranger.

Have seen a few youtube video of some folks doing it on their max-ed characters but I simply have no idea of the cost of their equipment.

How much zeny worth of gear would you say would be necessary to at least be able to go through decently deep through ET solo? Don't mind not being able to make it all the way to the end, just want to have a good time every now and again.

I know it's probably really crazy expensive but just wanted to get an idea if this is still even worth doing. Thanks.

Depending what gear, not much. Things like +9FAW, and Enforcer Shoes(Enforcer shoes are new to you, but they are really needed for Meteor Assault build Sin characters), but most high end gear can be had at a fraction of what they should be priced at.

However the downside is, It's harder to make zeny these days(It's a buyers market these days, but not many people are buying)..

I haven't done instance dungeons really, but alot less the it used to, that's for damn sure(I bought a item that should have been 1.6b-1.8b for 500m, a Items that should be 800m-1b are going for 100-200m, so yea.

everyone is gonna hit you with some large numbers here.

I think it's important to know there are a lot of gear that you can earn easy or buy for cheap that has been forgotten because everyone is too busy focusing on "the best".

the market is really crazy right now.. lots of retiring "I bought into this game" players selling stuff like +15 spell circles for 400m.
I tried selling a +9 FAW -  spell 17 - for 150m for 2 weeks and no one bought it...

I would say 1b can get you pretty far.
of course the MVP cards are 2-12b a piece.

I'd expect 0-150m per gear on average.
one or two items might be 1b but it should balance out, especially if you do some research and get "not the best" gear that many people have forgotten about or never knew existed.

p.s.
the shop board in pront is great but many people hold items they dont think will sell for much or fast.. so if you ask around you can find what you're looking for.

Best to just walk around in Prontera and take your time to see which equipment is cheap. Do your own research and buy things that are too underpriced.

Aside from doing instances, i see alot of people doing daily quests using multiple accounts to get multiple rewards to support their main account for huge zeny gain

you can get very decently geared in under a bil zeny. Meanwhile, many ppl will recommend stuff that easily surpasses that mark on each equipment, shadow and costume slot, because those are the new hotness and what's "meta".

Looking at guides/videos/posts of maybe upwards to 5~7 years ago can give you some idea of gears people were using back then to crush the game, but that aren't BiS anymore so they've fallen a lot in price.  It won't translate 1:1 in effectiveness due to a somewhat recent buff to mvps, but the brunt of that change is it made the fights take longer.
